SEC’s Tokenization “Innovation Exemption” Plan Further Delayed
According to crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett, the SEC’s tokenization “innovation exemption” has been delayed again, with details unlikely to be released soon. Sources said the delay may be linked to ongoing negotiations over the tokenization provisions in Section 10505 of the Clarity Act. Moving ahead with the exemption could disrupt compromises being negotiated among stakeholders, and the plan may remain on hold until the bill’s path becomes clearer.
Separately, the SEC postponed a public meeting scheduled for Friday on proposed rules and exemptions for crypto-asset financing transactions under “Regulation Crypto Assets,” citing a last-minute scheduling conflict. An SEC spokesperson said the agency would continue pursuing regulatory clarity for the crypto industry.
