Yandal Resources confirms new high-grade domain at Arrakis gold discovery

Author: The Market Online Australia·

Key Takeaways

  • •Assay results from drilling approximately 50 metres down-dip of earlier high-grade intercepts have confirmed a third potential high-grade domain within the Arrakis gold discovery.
  • •The newly confirmed domain is interpreted as a steep-to-moderate south-plunging system with a 100-to-150-metre strike, following the 6.0m at 28.3 g/t gold intercept reported two weeks earlier.
  • •New assays from seven RC holes and one diamond tail included significant intercepts of 17.5m at 2.3 g/t gold from 127.5m and 4.8m at 4.0 g/t from 135.5m.
  • •The interpreted south-plunging geometry indicates the new domain remains untested below the Yueh Shear Zone, providing a strong at-depth target for future drilling.
  • •Results from a further two diamond tails are expected in early September, while Yandal Resources traded at 14.5 cents with a market capitalisation of $55.31 million.
Yandal Resources confirms new high-grade domain at Arrakis gold discovery

Yandal Resources (ASX: YRL) has further confirmed the upside of the Arrakis gold discovery within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) gold project in Western Australia.

Assay results from drilling approximately 50 metres down-dip of earlier high-grade results have confirmed the presence of an additional high-grade domain within the Arrakis gold discovery.

Current interpretations suggest the mineralisation may form a steep-to-moderate south-plunging system, marking the third potential high-grade domain identified within the Arrakis mineralised system to date. The extrapolation of this high-grade domain down-plunge provides a strong target for additional drilling below the Yueh Shear Zone, where the current geometry suggests mineralisation has not yet been fully tested.

Results from a further two diamond tails are expected in early September.

The latest results follow targeted broad-spaced infill reverse circulation (RC) drilling and subsequent diamond tails on 100-metre-spaced drilling lines across the currently defined 1.3-kilometre Arrakis discovery, which began in early May. The program was designed to test for high-grade domains within the 1.3-kilometre-striking Arrakis mineralised system.

Previously reported results from diamond hole 26IWBRC0066D, which returned 11.5m at 1.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 5.0m at 3.1 g/t, and 21.7m at 0.8 g/t, including 4.0m at 2.1 g/t, showed significant mineralisation below the Yueh Shear Zone.

“Today’s results provide further support for a third high-grade domain within the Arrakis mineralised system, first defined after the 6.0m at 28.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold intercept reported two weeks ago,” managing director Chris Oorschot said.

“Interpretations suggest a south-plunging domain of higher-grade mineralisation, striking between 100m to 150m.

“Given the interpreted south-plunging geometry of the new high-grade domain, the new domain remains untested below the Yueh Shear Zone, an intense zone of mylonitisation where Arrakis mineralisation is structurally disrupted and attenuated, providing a strong at-depth target for future drilling.”

Assay results from a further seven RC holes and one diamond core tail have also been received. Significant Arrakis intercepts included 17.5m at 2.3 g/t from 127.5m, including 3.8m at 2.8 g/t from 130.7m; 4.8m at 4.0 g/t from 135.5m; and 17.0m at 1.1 g/t from 162.0m, including 1.6m at 3.8 g/t from 31m.

Mr Oorschot said results from the Arrakis 6,650mN section show an emerging high-grade domain in the footwall of the Arrakis structure, directly below an intermediate porphyry.

The Arrakis prospect is at the centre of the IWB Gold Project in the Yandal Greenstone Belt of Western Australia. The prospect is defined by a 2.2-kilometre regolith gold anomaly identified by air-core drilling in 2025.

YRL was steady at 14.5 cents with a market capitalisation of $55.31 million before the market opened.
