The XRP Ledger is being positioned for a larger role in AI-driven payments, with RippleX Head of Engineering J. Ayo Akinyele saying agentic transactions on XRPL could rise from a recently surpassed 1 million milestone to between 10 million and 100 million in the next few years.

Akinyele said the 1 million mark should be viewed as an early stage in a broader growth cycle rather than a final benchmark. He pointed to the development of more capable AI agents and continued improvements in blockchain infrastructure as factors that could expand autonomous machine-to-machine payments on the XRP Ledger.
