The XRP Ledger is scheduled for a major upgrade next week, with five protocol amendments set to be considered by validators. The xrpld 3.3.0 release introduces new features while also resubmitting proposals that had previously been withdrawn over security concerns. Together, the amendments target transaction privacy, multi-step batching, and fee flexibility — areas where blockchain platforms more broadly have been expanding to attract institutional and enterprise adoption.

Previously Withdrawn Amendments Resubmitted After Security Fixes
Two of the five amendments have been resubmitted after their earlier security vulnerabilities were addressed. These are the Batch amendment and the Permission Delegation amendment.
The Batch amendment enables eight transactions from different accounts to either all execute successfully or all fail together. Atomic multi-transaction execution is a capability available on several other major blockchains, where it supports use cases such as decentralized exchange settlements and multi-step DeFi operations. The Batch amendment had previously passed a validator vote but was subsequently withdrawn after a vulnerability was discovered in its signature verification process. The issue was identified by Pranamya Keshkamat and the security firm Cantina. Validators were instructed not to activate the amendment, and developers released an emergency software patch to prevent its implementation. Since the feature had not yet been deployed to the network, no user funds were affected.
The Permission Delegation amendment was also removed from consideration after a bug was identified in 2025. The flaw allowed one account to pay transaction fees on behalf of another account, creating a potential vector for XRP drainage.
New Amendments Target Privacy and Payment Flexibility
The remaining three amendments introduce entirely new capabilities to the XRP Ledger.
Confidential MPT extends the Multi-Purpose Tokens framework by incorporating zero-knowledge proofs and encryption. This ensures that transaction details remain visible only to the verifying entity, enhancing privacy for token holders. The concept parallels gasless or meta-transaction mechanisms adopted on networks such as Ethereum, where account abstraction standards enable third-party fee sponsorship.
Dynamic MPT gives token issuers the ability to modify certain token settings — such as fees or metadata — without needing to issue an entirely new token.
Governance Threshold and Approval Process
Under the XRP Ledger's amendment process, a proposal is only enabled after receiving approval from at least 80% of trusted validators consistently over a two-week period.
