XRP Exchange Inflows Reach Seven-Month High Above 6 Billion Tokens as Whale Activity Fades
Key Takeaways
- •Rolling 30-day XRP exchange inflows reached 6.05 billion tokens on Oct. 19, a seven-month high after doubling since mid-August.
- •The 90-day moving average of XRP whale outflows fell to $49.7 million, its lowest point since October 2021 and a 98.6% decline from the February 2025 peak of $3.5 billion.
- •CryptoQuant indicated that reduced whale withdrawals suggest large investors are waiting for better prices, which could leave XRP lacking buying volume.
- •XRP/USD rose from around $1 to a peak of $1.70 during the inflow period before correcting to approximately $1.30.
- •Glassnode reported that Bitcoin's realized profit/loss ratio dropped 50% over the past week, from 0.8 to 0.4, as BTC/USD traded within an $80,000 to $87,000 range.

XRP deposits to cryptocurrency exchanges have climbed to seven-month highs, with onchain data showing that more than 6 billion tokens were moved onto trading platforms over the past 30 days.
Key points:
- Rolling 30-day inflows to exchanges hit 6 billion XRP on Oct. 19, their highest value in seven months.
- The 90-day moving average of whale outflows fell to $49.7 million, its lowest level in five years, as analysts observe a lack of interest in the XRP/USDT pair.
- The realized profit/loss ratio has dropped 41% in October as rangebound trading conditions return.
XRP whale interest absent as exchange inflows climb
New research from onchain analytics platform CryptoQuant reveals that, on a rolling 30-day basis, XRP exchange inflows are at their highest since March.
In the 30 days to Oct. 19, inflows totaled 6.05 billion XRP and have doubled since mid-August. During this period, XRP/USD rose from around $1 to a maximum of $1.70 correcting to current levels near $1.30.
Exchange inflow metrics count the tokens deposited onto trading venues, where they can be readily traded, offering a direct view of how XRP is moving between holders and platforms.
“The rise in total inflows to more than 6 billion XRP, reaching a seven-month high, signals a clear shift in asset movement toward exchanges. This could reflect increased trading activity and liquidity on these platforms, or a rise in the movement of XRP between wallets and exchanges,” CryptoQuant commented.
Read side by side, the datasets sketch a divided market: tokens are reaching exchanges at their fastest pace since March even as withdrawals by the largest holders from those same venues sit at multi-year lows.
Further analysis covering exchange withdrawals from whales shows that XRP is “attracting less and less attention.” According to CryptoQuant’s whale outflow data, large-volume investors may be waiting for more advantageous prices before increasing their exposure to the token.
The 90-day moving average of whale outflows hit a high of $3.5 billion in February 2025, shortly after XRP’s all-time high at $3.40. Since then, whale outflows are down 98.6%, and the 90-day moving average currently stands at $49.7 million — its lowest value since October 2021.
“From a long-term perspective, this suggests XRP could lack buying volume without whale support,” CryptoQuant commented, while acknowledging XRP’s “notable resilience” during the 2026 crypto bear market. Any return of that support would show up first in the same dataset, with the 90-day average needing to lift off its current $49.7 million base.
Bitcoin rangebound price action eases profit-taking
Onchain data confirms that Bitcoin investors also stepped back in October, as BTC/USD traded within a range between $80,000 and $87,000.
In its latest Market Pulse bulletin released on Monday, crypto analytics platform Glassnode reported reduced profit-taking across the Bitcoin investor base. The realized profit/loss ratio, which weighs the value of gains investors lock in onchain against realized losses, dropped from 0.8 to 0.4 over the past week, a decrease of 50%.
“This contrast demonstrates that profit realized activity cooled relative to loss realization onchain, highlighting a transition toward more subdued sentiment and diminished aggressive spending by market participants,” Glassnode summarized.
