Wyoming Adopts Chainlink Proof of Reserve for FRNT, Exceeding GENIUS Act Disclosure Requirements

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission adopted Chainlink Proof of Reserve on Wednesday to publish verified backing data for its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) onchain in near real time. The step moves FRNT, the state-issued stablecoin, beyond the monthly disclosure minimum set by the federal GENIUS Act, and positions Wyoming as a testing ground for how public issuers might implement the law's transparency mandate in practice.

The Network Firm examines the backing under AICPA standards

Under the arrangement, The Network Firm, an outside examiner, verifies FRNT's reserves and token supply in accordance with AICPA standards. The Chainlink oracle network then posts that verified data onchain and refreshes it in near real time. Wyoming presents the combination as a way to close information gaps that arise between formal reports — a recurring point of scrutiny in the stablecoin sector, where reserve quality and redemption capacity are central to whether a token holds its peg.

FRNT launched in January as the first stable token issued by a US state. It is backed by US dollars and short-term US Treasuries, and the yield generated by those reserves is directed to Wyoming's School Foundation Program rather than to token holders.

"By adopting Chainlink Proof of Reserve as Wyoming's exclusive onchain asset verification infrastructure, we're providing transparent, verifiable confirmation that the Frontier Stable Token is fully backed by high-quality reserve assets," said Anthony Apollo, executive director of the commission. The GENIUS Act, the federal stablecoin law, establishes a baseline requiring issuers to disclose reserve composition and outstanding supply once a month. Wyoming was already above that bar, publishing reserve attestations for FRNT daily. The new integration goes further than a daily snapshot: the commission expects the onchain feed to reflect changes in FRNT's backing as they happen between reporting cycles, rather than requiring anyone to wait for the next scheduled disclosure. For a state-issued token competing with established private stablecoins that dominate onchain payment and settlement volume, verifiable reserve data is one of the few differentiators available to a public issuer.

Secure Mint would stop an infinite-mint attack before it starts

Wyoming is also preparing to adopt a second Chainlink feature, Proof of Reserve Secure Mint, which the commission says is still in the process of adoption. The mechanism prevents the creation of new FRNT unless verified reserves are at or above the token's total supply. Its purpose is to avert infinite-mint attacks, in which an attacker mints tokens with no backing, and to give holders cryptographic proof that any newly minted FRNT is backed by real assets — wiring the reserve check directly into the minting process.

The development follows Wyoming's decision in August to migrate FRNT from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as the token's sole cross-chain rail, made after a security review. That migration has moved roughly $15 billion in onchain value from LayerZero to CCIP.

Chainlink has recently expanded its institutional footprint. It became the price source for Coinbase's B20 tokenized equities, joined a group of banks in the euro-and-won settlement effort Project Pangea, and signed on with the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC). As previously reported by Cryptopolitan, the DTCC has selected Chainlink's Runtime Environment to run a collateral appchain anticipated to launch in Q4 2026. The Wyoming integration extends that institutional push into the public-sector stablecoin arena, and the pending Secure Mint adoption is the next milestone to watch for FRNT's verification stack.

LINK, the token of the Chainlink network, traded near $11.07 on Wednesday, up about 35% over the prior month.
