World Rolls Out Self-Custodial World Money Super App in More Than 150 Countries

World has launched World Money, a self-custodial financial “super app” combining stablecoin payments, digital asset rewards and trading, the project said in an official announcement.

The rollout began Thursday in more than 150 countries, World said, with available features varying by location. Users can send supported digital assets, including stablecoins, to a recipient’s World username, deposit eligible assets to earn rewards, and buy and sell digital assets through exchanges.

Stablecoins are digital tokens pegged to the value of traditional currencies and are commonly used for payments and money transfers, while the app’s self-custodial design means users hold own assets rather than leaving them with an exchange or intermediary. Because feature availability differs by jurisdiction, the app’s functionality will vary from market to market as the rollout continues.

The app also offers access to third-party “Mini Apps” such as Kalshi, Credit and Morpho. A partnership with Stripe allows users to fund their accounts and buy stablecoins with Apple Pay, starting with users in the United States — connecting a mainstream mobile payment option directly to stablecoin purchases. The launch was also announced in a post on X from the World App account.

World Money represents the latest step in a multiyear expansion of World’s financial services. The original World App launched in May 2023, combining World ID with a crypto wallet, stablecoin transfers and token trading. In October 2024, the project introduced World App 3.0 — billed as a “super app for humans” — adding third-party Mini Apps and a Vault feature for earning on assets, as outlined in an official blog post. The super-app model — bundling payments, trading and third-party services in a single interface — was popularized by consumer platforms in Asia, and World has assembled those pieces across successive releases.

In November 2025, World piloted virtual bank accounts in the United States before extending them to additional countries one month later, allowing users to receive paychecks and bank deposits that are converted into USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin — a structure that routes conventional bank deposits into digital dollars.

With World Money’s debut, World said its identity and financial services are now split across two dedicated apps. The World ID App handles identity verification and credentials, while World Money provides wallet, payment and other financial features. Existing World App and World ID App users can access World Money using their existing accounts, the company said.

World Money is operated by Tools for Humanity, the technology company co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania that develops technology for the World network, formerly known as Worldcoin. The launch was first reported by Cointelegraph.
