World Foundation Raises $52.5 Million in WLD Token Sale Led by Pantera Capital

World Foundation has raised $52.5 million through a private token sale of its native WLD token, with Pantera Capital leading the funding round. The foundation said the proceeds will support the development and expansion of World ID, its digital identity platform designed to verify users’ identities without sharing their personal details.

World Foundation said all investors in the round agreed to a 12-month lock-up period. In an X post dated July 24, 2026, the foundation said: “The need for @world_id infrastructure is accelerating. World Foundation raised $52.5M from @PanteraCapital , @BainCapCrypto , @Eightcoholdings , @SeliniCapital , Susquehanna Crypto and other strategic investors to accelerate utility and access to World ID. Funding was through a…” https://x.com/worldcoinfnd/status/2080677191122120997

Participants in the fundraising included Bain Capital Crypto, Selini Capital, Susquehanna Crypto, and Eightco Holdings. Eightco Holdings is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker ORBS and already owns a significant amount of WLD tokens. According to World Foundation, the transaction marks the first successful closing in a fundraising series, although the foundation has not made any statement about potential future closings.

World Foundation Seeks to Expand World ID for the AI Era

World Foundation plans to use the newly raised funds to expand World ID, a privacy-focused identity system that allows people to prove they are human without disclosing personal information. The initiative says the need for human authentication is increasing as artificial intelligence technology becomes more widely used, particularly as online platforms face more pressure to distinguish real users from bots, automated accounts, and synthetic media.

Cosmo Jiang, general partner at Pantera Capital, said the rapid development of AI technologies has made proof-of-human technology more relevant than ever, while also noting rising enterprise interest in the platform. “The foundation expects that the technology will be able to solve issues related to deepfakes, synthetic identity and automation of user accounts,” he added.

World ID 4.0 Targets Enterprise Use

The latest version of the platform, World ID 4.0, is described as enterprise-grade software that allows developers to issue secure digital credentials using zero-knowledge proof technology. Zero-knowledge proofs are used in digital identity systems to let a user prove that a claim is valid without revealing the underlying data behind that claim. World Foundation said Zoom, DocuSign, Okta, Vercel, and Tinder have already adopted World ID.

World Foundation also stated that WLD tokens are not equity shares in Tools for Humanity, the company behind the development of World’s hardware and software. That distinction is relevant because the fundraising was conducted through token sales rather than a traditional corporate equity round. Before this fundraising round, the project had already raised an estimated $200 million through previous WLD token sales, while Tools for Humanity raised around $240 million through venture funding.

The project has recorded more than 39 million sign-ups and more than 18 million World IDs verified using its Orb devices. It continues to face regulatory scrutiny in multiple countries over biometric data collection and user privacy. World Foundation says it remains engaged with regulators.
