Visa has broadened the benefits of its Visa Infinite card lineup, introducing two new tiers that expand access to more personalized experiences centered on lifestyle and travel amid strong payments growth in the affluent segment.
Tiered premium card lineups are an established approach in the payments industry for matching benefits to customers at different spending levels, and the refresh extends Visa’s premium structure with options aimed at progressively wealthier client segments.
“In a consumption-driven economy such as the Philippines, payments continue to shape how people dine, travel, shop, and pursue their passions. The modern Filipino affluent is evolving to seek more intentional and globally-connected experiences, prioritizing personalization and meaning over traditional signals of status. The refreshed Visa Infinite brings together Visa’s scale, innovation, and partnerships to deliver relevant and differentiated value for today’s affluent customers,” Visa Philippines Country Manager Jeffrey V. Navarro said.
Citing internal data, Visa reported strong growth in payments within the affluent segment, with spending on affluent cards rising 49% over a six-month period as of April. Premium card programs are built around sustained spending in categories such as travel, dining, and lifestyle, making affluent transaction activity a closely watched metric for card networks.
“Going into the Philippines, what we’ve been seeing in terms of spending by the affluent base is it’s growing at the level of 40% to 50% year on year. In spite of some of the macroeconomic headwinds, we see consistency in the spend because they really look for experiences. They’re globally mobile,” Mr. Navarro said.
“If you look at, let’s say, Philippines, from an affluent definition, in the next few years, that base will grow five times,” he added.
Visa forecasts an 8% compound annual growth rate through 2030 for affluent households in Asia-Pacific, with the region home to nearly 31% of the global ultra-high-net-worth population. Those projections give context to the five-fold expansion Mr. Navarro expects in the Philippine affluent base: as the base grows, so does the pool of prospective premium cardholders.
The expanded Visa Infinite package adds two tiers to the basic offering. Visa Infinite Privilege builds on the base tier with broader access and more curated experiences, while Visa Infinite Private is available by invitation only and is designed for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, offering bespoke services and exclusive access to rare and highly personalized experiences. Invitation-only structures are a longstanding convention among top-tier card programs, reserving the most individualized services for a select client base.
The overall Visa Infinite package is supported by intelligent payments capabilities, including higher transaction limits, smart authorization, cross-border issuance, and always-on security — capabilities that align with the internationally mobile spending patterns Mr. Navarro described.
Visa-branded cards reach consumers through issuing banks, so the pace at which Philippine issuers fold the two new tiers into their portfolios will shape how widely the refreshed lineup reaches affluent customers.
