VA Tech Wabag Shares Rise 3% After Securing Repeat Order From Reliance Industries for Effluent Treatment Plant

Shares of VA Tech Wabag rose nearly 3% after the water technology company announced it had secured a medium-sized repeat order from Reliance Industries (RIL) to design and commission an advanced Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The project will employ advanced chemical, biological and sludge treatment technologies and is scheduled for completion within 13 months, the company said.

"This repeat order reinforces our long-standing relationship with RIL, a key customer, and reflects the continued trust and confidence RIL places in our capabilities," VA Tech Wabag said in its statement.

VA Tech Wabag is a Chennai-headquartered water treatment company with operations spanning municipal and industrial water, wastewater treatment and desalination, serving customers in India and international markets. The company has been a long-standing supplier of water and effluent treatment solutions to Reliance Industries, one of India's largest conglomerates, whose Jamnagar refinery and petrochemical complex in Gujarat is among the largest of its kind in the world.

The Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, where the new plant will be built, is Reliance's dedicated facility in Jamnagar for manufacturing renewable energy equipment, including solar modules, batteries and electrolysers, as part of its new energy business. Effluent treatment is a regulatory requirement for industrial facilities in India, where plants must treat wastewater before discharge or reuse, and the order underscores how industrial customers building new manufacturing capacity in sectors such as new energy continue to require water and effluent treatment infrastructure.

The order announcement moved VA Tech Wabag's stock higher on the day, with the shares gaining close to 3%.
