World Liberty’s USD1 Goes Live on Canton for RWA Settlement
Key Takeaways

- •World Liberty Financial said USD1 has reached $4 billion in circulation since its March 2025 launch.
- •BitGo Bank & Trust oversees reserves and minting and redemption for USD1, which World Liberty says is fully backed by cash-like assets.
- •World Liberty and Canton said the stablecoin can be used for collateral, lending, cross-border payments, and tokenized asset issuance.

USD1 Becomes Native on Canton
Unlike a token simply bridged onto another chain, USD1 is now natively issued on Canton. That allows the stablecoin to function directly as the cash side of onchain transactions involving tokenized assets.
World Liberty cited collateral for derivatives, lending, asset issuance and redemption, and cross-border payments among the institutional use cases for USD1. The company said synchronized settlement is a key feature of the integration: using USD1 together with a tokenized asset in the same transaction allows both legs of the trade to settle without needing separate settlement processes.
Canton also includes privacy and permissioning controls for transactions. According to the network, users can manage access rights to transaction details while preserving the ability of applications to communicate with each other. That combination is aimed at workflows where institutions need transaction coordination without giving up control over who can view specific data.
USD1 Tops $4 Billion in Circulation
World Liberty Financial said USD1 has reached $4 billion in circulation since its launch in March 2025.
BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, oversees reserves and enables minting and redemption for the stablecoin. World Liberty says USD1 is fully backed by short-term U.S. Treasurys, U.S. government money market funds, U.S. dollar deposits, and other cash equivalents.
The company said the growing supply increases USD1’s liquidity base as it expands into institutional blockchain markets. With the Canton deployment, USD1 will be available for direct financial transactions on a new network in addition to its existing ecosystem, giving institutions another venue to use a dollar-backed asset in tokenized settlement flows.
Canton Positions Itself for Institutional Tokenization
Canton is positioning itself as infrastructure for institutions moving traditional assets onto blockchain networks.
The network says more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets are issued and processed on Canton each month. It also claims to handle more than $350 billion worth of on-chain U.S. Treasurys each day.
According to the network, these assets can be used in collateral, repo, and treasury-management processes. Canton said direct settlement matters for institutions because cash flows can be tied up when settlement is delayed. With native USD1, those transactions can settle directly into a USD1 option on Canton, aligning the dollar leg with the asset leg inside the same environment.
USD1 Expands Its Onchain Use Cases
The integration extends USD1 beyond a dollar-backed crypto asset into more complex onchain financial workflows.
World Liberty and Canton highlighted 24/7 cross-border payments, institutional financing, and tokenized asset issuance as potential applications. USD1 can also be used as collateral in derivatives and loan transactions.
The deployment on Canton is part of the company’s broader efforts to extend tokenized financial markets. The stablecoin adds another option for institutions operating in tokenized markets on Canton, and World Liberty said the launch opens a new institutional distribution path for a stablecoin worth more than $4 billion.
