UK P&I Club Appoints Jeong-Sook Kim as Senior Underwriting Director
The UK P&I Club, one of the oldest and largest mutual marine insurers within the International Group of P&I Clubs (IGP&I), has announced the appointment of Ms. Jeong-Sook Kim as Senior Underwriting Director, with initial responsibility for the Korean market. Ms. Kim joined the Club on 4th August and will be based in the Club's London office.
In her new role, Ms. Kim will work closely with William Beveridge, Chief Underwriting Officer, and the wider Asia-Pacific leadership team. She will help shape and deliver the Club's underwriting strategy while strengthening its presence, reputation, and Membership base in Korea, which ranks among the world's leading maritime nations and is home to major shipowners, operators, and the largest shipbuilding industry globally.
An Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a qualified lawyer, Ms. Kim brings more than 30 years of experience spanning broking, underwriting, and legal practice across Asia, including Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. Her expertise covers P&I insurance, which provides shipowners with coverage for third-party liabilities such as crew injury, pollution, and cargo damage, and FD&D (Freight, Demurrage and Defence) insurance, which covers legal and associated costs in commercial shipping disputes. She maintains longstanding relationships with Members and brokers and has a proven track record of developing and servicing business across both the Korean and wider Asian markets.
Ms. Kim has held senior positions within the P&I market. Most recently, she worked with Campbell Johnston Clark's specialist shipping team as Senior Associate, offering a distinctive combination of market expertise, commercial judgement, and legal insight.
