MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace on Friday evening aired a supercut highlighting what she described as growing defections among Donald Trump's once-loyal right-wing media supporters — a development she framed as evidence of fractures within the president's base.

The segment, broadcast on MS NOW, stitched together past and present statements from several prominent pro-Trump figures, juxtaposing their earlier declarations of support with more recent expressions of disillusionment. The montage reflects a broader dynamic in which independent podcasters, streamers, and social media personalities — many of whom eclipsed traditional conservative media outlets in reach during Trump's political rise — have become increasingly influential voices within the Republican coalition.

Wallace introduced the montage by telling her panel, "I do want to show you some of the contortions that Trump has forced some of his most rabid followers to make, in their own words."

The reasons cited for the apparent rift varied widely, from frustration over U.S. involvement in the Iran war to dissatisfaction with the administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein trafficking case files. The segment also aired against the backdrop of what observers have described as a broader traffic decline across right-wing media platforms.

Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist and webcaster whose InfoWars program has been a fixture of far-right media for decades, was shown in an earlier clip stating, "We've got to support Trump or civilization will collapse. Those are quotes. And it's true." In a more recent clip, Jones said of Trump: "I'm calling for it right now. 25th Amendment, impeachment, whatever needs to happen to get this front and center to get control of our country."

Shawn Ryan, a former Navy SEAL and podcast host, appeared in an older segment saying, "I've been very open to the fact that I will be supporting Trump." In a newer clip, Ryan reversed course: "I'm completely embarrassed that I supported Trump in the past because of, you know, the fact that he completely flipped on his entire base."

Sean Strickland, the MMA fighter, was shown in a past interview offering a favorable impression: "You guys ever meet Trump? You talk to him? No, you meet him and he's actually a solid guy." In a more recent interview, Strickland offered a starkly different assessment: "When you're at a Trump rally, you're like, oh, I could definitely see how Hitler happened. Like, I'm not even — I'm not joking, dude."

Following the montage, Wallace turned to political analyst Rick Stengel for context.

"Some of it is the proverbial rats deserting the sinking ship, but they're deserting the ship for different reasons," Stengel said. "I mean, all of the folks we just saw, feel betrayed by Trump in one way or another. They realized that he has no ideology at all except get attention and get money."
