President Trump hosted Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in the Oval Office, using the visit to publicly praise both Huang and the company’s semiconductor products.

The appearance highlighted how central Nvidia has become to Washington’s discussions about advanced computing, export controls, and domestic AI infrastructure. It also came against the backdrop of the broader US-China technology competition, where access to high-end semiconductors remains a recurring policy issue.

This is not the first time Trump and Huang have met. The two spoke in December 2025 about export controls on advanced semiconductors, a topic at the center of US-China technology competition. That meeting was notable because Nvidia’s most powerful chips are among the types of hardware the United States has restricted from reaching Chinese AI labs.

In May 2026, Huang was added at the last minute to Trump’s CEO delegation for a trip to China after initial concerns arose about his absence from the roster. Trump’s decision to personally intervene and include Huang underscored Nvidia’s importance in the administration’s technology diplomacy.

Earlier in 2025, Huang also took part in a White House event focused on “Investing in America,” where Trump listened as the Nvidia chief outlined the company’s vision for domestic AI infrastructure.
