The president, who reportedly uses the hair restoration medication finasteride — a detail confirmed by his former White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson in 2017 — inadvertently fueled further debate after his recent Las Vegas rally, where his hair drew unexpected attention. Trump's hair has been a recurring topic of public curiosity dating back decades, well before his entry into presidential politics.

Forbes reporter Antonio Pequeño IV reported on Thursday that "President Donald Trump's appearance in Las Vegas on Wednesday has given way to speculation about a possible hair boost, with people on social media noting the president had particularly thicker-looking hair during his speech." Pequeño noted that "photos taken of Trump during the speech at Red Rock Casino Resort appear to show a more full and colorful hairstyle than recent public appearances."

According to Pequeño, some users on X questioned whether Trump was wearing a wig, while supporters used the occasion to praise his appearance. Pequeño observed that Trump's hair appeared to be a comb-over, and had seemingly been thinner just days earlier when the president met with reporters aboard Air Force One on the preceding Sunday.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) posted on X: "Trump has a weave!!" Kinzinger made the remark while reposting a photo from the Democratic Party's official X account that showed Trump with seemingly thinner hair in the recent past, Pequeño reported.

During the same Las Vegas rally, Trump appeared to acknowledge that his military action against Iran had contributed to rising oil prices, even as he has previously denied that affordability is a problem in the United States.

"When oil goes down, and it's going to go down very rapidly and is already happening, we may have to send it up again, we may have to — you know what happens when we send it up," Trump told supporters. "But we don't have to. But when that oil and gasoline go down, everything else follows. But we have done a great job at reducing prices and we have done an unbelievable job in making our country really, really respected and successful again."

Trump's hair has been a subject of such public fascination that journalist and author Michael Wolff, one of Trump's ongoing biographers, argued last year that the president's hair helped him win reelection in 2024.

Wolff described former President Joe Biden by saying: "He looks gray. He's washed-out. You know, his hair is — what's left of it — is gray. The skin is gray. The suits are gray. And Trump would point out, 'Look at him. Nobody even sees him. Everybody notices me.' Which is absolutely true."

Wolff added: "And side by side, you know, who do you notice? You notice this guy — this appalling-looking guy who is Donald Trump, and not just the relatively normal old man-looking guy that Biden was." Trump's hair, Wolff continued, is an integral part of that dynamic.
