President Donald Trump's hair requires upkeep from a "patch kit" that is carried around alongside the nuclear codes, according to biographer Michael Wolff.

Speaking during a Saturday episode of "Inside Trump's Head," Wolff — the author of several biographies about Trump, including Fire and Fury, Siege, and Landslide — explained that the president's hair is assembled using a "patch kit" that travels with some of the nation's most sensitive materials. Wolff has written multiple books based on reported access to Trump's inner circle, though Trump has previously pushed back on the accuracy of Wolff's accounts, and the claims in this segment come from Wolff's own reporting rather than independent verification.

"He has somebody who's following — and there have been a couple of people, certainly, over the political year — who have carried the patch kit," Wolff said. "They are next to the people who carry the nuclear codes."

The reference to the nuclear codes evokes the aide who carries the "football," the briefcase accompanying the president at all times that contains the equipment used to authorize a nuclear launch. Wolff's remark places the hair-maintenance kit — at least in his telling — in the same security bubble that surrounds the president's most sensitive military assets.

Wolff's comments came after Trump insisted earlier this week that his hair is not a wig. When Inside Trump's Head co-host Joanna Coles asked whether the president wears one, Wolff explained that Trump's hair is patched together "with some kind of paste," making it "only equivocally not a wig." Trump's hair has long been a subject of public fascination, dating back decades to his time as a New York tabloid fixture, and the president has repeatedly addressed speculation about it over the years.

"He has what are called 'patches,' and they call it the 'patch kit,' and the patch kit is little, you know, small tufts of hair that match whatever color his hair might be at the time," Wolff said. "Those are applied if needed and if necessary."

Wolff also recounted an anecdote from his first Trump biography, Fire and Fury, in which Ivanka Trump offered an "amused" perspective on her father's hair. According to Wolff, Ivanka Trump told him that assembling her father's hairstyle required "having to tease it in certain ways, and having to pull it in certain ways, and having to fluff it in certain ways."

"You kind of created this confection on top," Wolff said. "His hair is a major enterprise and has been for many years."

Coles laughed and agreed, remarking that Trump's hair "does look like one of those spun sugar things that you can put your hand in and pull it out and start eating it, and it would have no caloric value at all."
