Prediction market Trueo announced it will migrate from Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 network, to Ethereum mainnet, citing greater decentralization, broader integration potential, and stronger network effects. The project, which launched on Base in March 2025, said Ethereum better fits its plans for a more credible oracle. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin welcomed the move, highlighting Trueo's focus on decentralization and new uses for prediction markets.

Trueo Targets Ethereum for Its Next Phase

According to the team, Base provided a useful environment for testing the app and identifying its strengths. Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 network, built to process transactions away from mainnet for lower fees while still settling to Ethereum. When Trueo launched, Ethereum mainnet gas costs remained elevated and some features were still experimental.

The team now aims for Trueo to become widely adopted, permissionless, mostly immutable, and broadly integrated, saying Ethereum offers the network effects and integrations needed for that direction. The migration will also focus on attracting liquidity across key market categories.

Trueo plans to release the next generation of its oracle after moving to Ethereum. The oracle remains central to the protocol because prediction markets depend on how outcomes get resolved; the system processes evidence from legitimate data sources to determine market outcomes. How outcomes are settled has long been a central design question for prediction markets, since payouts are only as credible as the resolution behind them.

Base Markets to Continue Operating After Migration

Trueo said the transition will not interrupt trading, resolutions, or redemptions on Base. Existing markets that expire after the migration will remain available through the official Trueo app.

However, Base users are encouraged not to create markets expiring after Jan. 31, 2027. Markets expiring before January remain unaffected. The existing resolution system will continue covering current Base markets, including those extending beyond the migration.

Meanwhile, TYD will continue accruing yield during the transition. TRUE will remain the protocol's token, and holders can migrate their tokens to Ethereum, where future staking and liquidity rewards will take place. The migration window will remain open indefinitely, with no cutoff for TRUE holders.

Ethereum Becomes Trueo's Mainnet Hub

Trueo said the migration does not reflect Base's position among competing chains. Instead, the project cited Ethereum's network effects, global integrations, and alignment with its goals. The team said Ethereum could connect Trueo with liquid crypto markets and ecosystems across finance, identifying oracle services, TYD yield opportunities, and DeFi prediction markets as potential integrations. Ethereum's mainnet is home to a large share of decentralized finance activity, giving protocols deployed there direct access to a wide range of composable applications and liquidity.

Buterin said Ethereum's Layer 1 would gain a new prediction market focused on decentralization and ethical operation, and praised Trueo for pursuing new uses for the economic primitive.

Trueo said its broader goals include immutable contracts, credible dispute resolution, and reduced dependence on any single party. With the migration open indefinitely, the delivery of the next-generation oracle and the pace at which liquidity and TRUE holders move to mainnet stand out as the concrete markers of how the transition progresses.
