Dispatch, the company's AI chat-based interface, allows truck drivers to find and book shipments without navigating load boards. Drivers can ask questions to find loads, and AI agents handle the bidding and booking process. The product reflected a broader push across freight tech toward AI-assisted load matching, as established load board operators such as DAT and Truckstop have also introduced automation tools aimed at reducing the time carriers spend searching for freight. More than 500,000 carriers use TruckSmarter's platform, which also includes a free load board.
According to automated email replies from TruckSmarter, active Dispatch subscriptions will be canceled on Friday, while invoices paid within the past 30 days will be refunded within seven business days of the cancellation. The acquiring company was not disclosed.
A statement from Dan Kao, co-founder and CEO of TruckSmarter, appears on the company's Dispatch app, and trucking groups and drivers have reposted the image on social media platforms.
"Thank you for trusting TruckSmarter and allowing us to be part of your business over the past five years," Kao said. "We're deeply grateful to everyone who used our products, shared feedback, and supported us along the way."
Last year, TruckSmarter sold its factoring and banking unit to OTR Solutions as part of a strategic shift to focus solely on Dispatch and load board solutions. A representative from OTR Solutions told FreightWaves that OTR Solutions has not acquired the remaining portion of TruckSmarter.
TruckSmarter is a private-equity backed company. It raised $16 million in September 2025 to "accelerate growth and product innovation," and in conjunction with the fundraise, it announced the launch of Dispatch. The shutdown comes amid a prolonged freight downturn that has pressured many carriers and freight tech providers, contributing to consolidation and closures across the sector.
The shutdown of the Dispatch app removes a key tool that drivers use to efficiently bid on and book freight without navigating traditional load boards, forcing users to quickly find alternative methods for managing their businesses.
