Three people have died due to the effects of Tropical Storm Noul, locally named Kiyapo, while the number of affected individuals has risen to nearly 300,000, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said on Monday.
Diego Augustin Mariano, OCD deputy spokesperson, told reporters via Viber that, based on data as of 6:00 a.m., Sarangani reported two deaths, both still under validation. One fatality was reported in Davao.
The OCD also reported one missing person in Sarangani. The validation of reported deaths and the search for the missing person remain key parts of the official accounting of the storm’s impact.
The number of people affected by Tropical Storm Noul climbed to 295,066, equivalent to 63,606 families. Of the total, 7,550 individuals are staying in 31 evacuation centers, underscoring the continuing need for temporary shelter and basic support in affected areas.
Authorities recorded 671 damaged houses, including 425 that were partially damaged and 246 that were totally damaged.
