Talonx Resources reports high-grade gold resampling results from Viking project
Key Takeaways
- •A resampled interval in drillhole 26VKRC010 was upgraded from 8.0m at 11.02 g/t gold to 4.0m at 22.05 g/t gold, including 2.0m at 42.4 g/t gold.
- •Talonx completed a 13-hole, 1,110m reverse circulation drilling program at the Beaker 2 and Beaker 4 prospects at Viking.
- •All 10 holes drilled at Beaker 2 intersected gold mineralisation, outlining a shallow oxide zone of about 400m by 300m.
- •The mineralised zone at Beaker 2 remains open to the west and along strike to the north and south.
- •Follow-up drilling will test the quartz-vein target along strike and below 26VKRC010 before the company evaluates resource potential at Beaker 2.

Talonx Resources (ASX:TXR) is preparing for follow-up drilling and a review of mineral resource potential after receiving high-grade resampling results from selected anomalous composite samples at the Viking gold project in Western Australia.
The resampling formed part of the recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Blair North gold project, which is located about 25km east of Kalgoorlie.
Anomalous composite samples were resampled at 1.0m intervals. In drillhole 26VKRC010, the previously reported 8.0m composite interval grading 11.02 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 32m was refined into a higher-grade 4.0m interval grading 22.05 g/t gold from 31m, including 2.0m at 42.4 g/t gold from 32m. The tighter resampling is important because it helps define where the strongest gold values sit within the broader interval and provides a clearer basis for planning the next round of RC drilling.
Talonx executive chairman Dr Steve Lennon said the high-grade results further demonstrate the potential of the Viking project.
He said the returns highlight the potential for very high-grade shoots within the broader shallow oxide gold system.
“Importantly, mineralisation remains open in multiple directions and the high-grade interval is associated with strong quartz veining that extends into fresh rock,” Mr Lennon said.
“We are already planning the next round of drilling to test the continuity and extent of this mineralisation, which will be followed by an evaluation of the resource potential of the Beaker 2 prospect.”
At Viking, the company completed a 13-hole, 1,110m RC drilling program at the Beaker 2 and Beaker 4 prospects. At Beaker 2, all 10 RC holes intersected gold mineralisation, defining a broadly sub-horizontal shallow oxide gold zone that now extends over approximately 400m by 300m.
Mineralisation was consistently intersected at shallow depths of about 20m to 40m across the drill footprint, indicating strong continuity within the oxide profile and supporting the potential for the zone to develop into a shallow oxide gold resource. The zone remains open to the west and along strike to the north and south, which is why follow-up drilling is being directed to test both continuity and extent rather than treating the current footprint as closed.
The standout result came from the southwestern margin of the oxide gold zone. The high-grade mineralisation is associated with quartz veining within sheared granite host rocks.
Follow-up RC drilling will test the mineralised quartz-vein target along strike and below 26VKRC010 to determine whether the mineralisation continues into fresh rock.
Beaker 2 remains open to the west, north and south, leaving scope to expand the shallow oxide mineralised footprint.
TXR was steady at 0.5c, with a market capitalisation of $4.659 million, prior to market open.
