Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Inc. will invest US$6.2 million to expand production capacity at its facility in Delta, British Columbia, a project intended to raise production volume by 15 per cent from current operations. The investment ties the company's growth plans to a shift it describes as underway across the coffee sector: decaf drinkers increasingly expect their coffee to be produced without chemical solvents.

Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027 with no disruption to existing operations. The work is scheduled for completion by June 2027, with the expanded facility operating commercially from July 2027 — dates that give the company's customers and partners fixed markers for when the additional volume becomes available.

Swiss Water President and CEO Frank Dennis said the added capacity is necessary in response to increasing demand for decaffeinated coffee.

"Decaffeinated coffee drinkers are increasingly demanding that their coffee contain no residual chemical solvents. This continues to drive an industry-wide migration away from chemical decaffeination processes in favour of 100% chemical free products like Swiss Water Process coffees," Dennis said.

"In response, we are excited to announce that, due to growing demand for our decaffeinated coffee and rapidly expanding utilisation of our existing production capacity, we will be investing in the expansion of our technologically advanced production facility," he added.

The spending responds to demand the company says is already showing up in its own operations, with utilisation of existing production capacity "rapidly expanding," according to Dennis. Within the decaf segment, Swiss Water positions its chemical-free process as the draw for that demand, consistent with the industry-wide shift away from solvent-based decaffeination he describes.

According to Dennis, the expansion supports Swiss Water's broader strategy to support existing customer demand, attract new trading partners, and expand into new markets. The disclosed milestones — construction start in the first quarter of 2027, completion by June 2027, and commercial operation from July 2027 — set out the schedule against which that plan can be tracked.
