Suzlon Energy Secures Maiden 201.6 MW Order from Waaree Forever Energies in Andhra Pradesh

Suzlon Energy has announced its first-ever order from Waaree Forever Energies, a contract to develop a 201.6 megawatt (MW) wind power project in Andhra Pradesh. The order adds to a growing pipeline of wind energy contracts Suzlon has secured as India accelerates its build-out of non-fossil generation capacity toward its national target of 500 GW of installed renewable energy by 2030.

Under the terms of the agreement, Suzlon Energy will be responsible for supplying and installing 64 units of its flagship S144 wind turbine generators. Each turbine is rated at 3.15 MW, bringing the total project capacity to 201.6 MW. The wind turbines will be installed at a site in Andhra Pradesh. The S144 features a 144-meter rotor diameter and is engineered for India's variable wind regimes, allowing energy capture across a range of site conditions including lower-wind-speed areas that have become increasingly relevant as developers expand into new territories.

The S144 is part of Suzlon's larger turbine portfolio designed for the Indian wind energy market. Suzlon Energy is one of India's leading renewable energy solutions providers, specialising in the manufacture and deployment of wind turbine generators. The company is publicly listed on Indian stock exchanges and has reported a sustained sequence of new orders over recent quarters, reflecting renewed demand for utility-scale wind projects after a period of slower industry-wide capacity additions.

Waaree Forever Energies is associated with the Waaree Group, a major Indian solar and renewable energy enterprise. The collaboration between a solar-focused group and Suzlon's wind expertise reflects a broader trend of Indian renewable developers pursuing diversified clean energy portfolios, with several companies now building hybrid and cross-technology generation assets. This order marks the first collaboration between Suzlon Energy and Waaree Forever Energies.

The project contributes to India's broader national goal of expanding its renewable energy infrastructure, with wind power remaining a key component of the country's clean energy mix. India has been steadily increasing its installed wind capacity over the past decade, with states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka among the leading contributors to wind power generation.
