Strategy bought no Bitcoin in the week ended September 7, just one week after ending a two-month purchasing pause, and instead spent $176.3 million repurchasing its own preferred stock, according to a Tuesday filing. The company repurchased 1,810,885 shares of STRC, its variable-rate perpetual preferred security, using funds from its USD Cash pool.
Strategy did not repurchase any of its STRF, STRK, or STRD preferred shares, nor did it buy back MSTR common stock. It also sold no shares through its at-the-market offering program during the period.
The company said its board had doubled the authorization for its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program, increasing it from $1 billion to $2 billion. As of September 7, $1.19 billion remained available under the program. A separate $1 billion authorization for MSTR stock remains untouched. The two authorizations cover different securities: the reported repurchase used the digital credit securities program, while the MSTR authorization was not used.
Strategy has repurchased $176M of $STRC and increased the size of its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program from $1.0B to $2.0B. As of 9/7/26, we hold 845,050 $BTC and $6.5B of USD Assets. $MSTR — Strategy (@Strategy) September 8, 2026
No change to Bitcoin holdings
Strategy bought and sold no Bitcoin during the week. It holds 845,050 BTC acquired for $63.73 billion, at an average cost of $75,412 per coin including fees.
Bitcoin was trading at about $77,760 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko data. That valued Strategy’s holdings at roughly $65.7 billion, compared with the $63.7 billion it paid, representing an unrealized gain of about 3%. The company’s previous purchase, made at $80,318 per Bitcoin, was below the market price at that time.
Strategy reported $5.10 billion in its USD Reserve, which is used to cover preferred dividends and interest, and $1.44 billion in USD Cash. Management can use the latter for Bitcoin purchases or other purposes, and funded the $176.3 million in buybacks from that pool.
The company created the USD Cash pool after raising $2 billion through an MSTR stock sale in August. It subsequently used $370 million to buy Bitcoin, its first such purchase since June. No Bitcoin was purchased during the latest reporting period.
Separately, Strategy Chair Michael Saylor and CEO Phong Le asked MSCI to withdraw an index rule that would remove the company from its global benchmarks, describing the rule as discriminatory. Funds tracking those indexes hold 3.1% of Strategy’s basic shares.
The filing was signed by Thomas C. Chow, Strategy’s general counsel. MSCI’s consultation is scheduled to close at the end of September, with a decision due October 16. That consultation is the next stated external milestone in the filing, while the company’s remaining repurchase authorizations and cash balances provide the disclosed framework for its subsequent capital-allocation decisions.
