Key Takeaways

  • Stable.com, developed by payments company Unlimit, has partnered with Polygon to enable direct bank transfers funded with USDT and PYUSD from self-custody wallets across more than 180 countries.
  • The integration runs on Polygon's Open Money Stack, a single infrastructure layer handling blockchain settlement, wallets, fiat ramps, and cross-chain orchestration for financial platforms.
  • Unlike custodial stablecoin-to-bank services, users keep control of their assets throughout the transfer process rather than depositing tokens into a platform account first.
  • Polygon's Open Money Stack reportedly has processed more than 8 billion cumulative transactions and over $2.7 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume, with average fees of around $0.002 and capacity exceeding 5,000 transactions per second.
  • Polygon added native PYUSD support in July 2026, and the new transfer service's real-world reach will be determined market by market based on local payment rules.

Stable.com, the financial platform developed by payments company Unlimit, has partnered with Polygon to enable direct bank transfers funded with Tether's USDT and PayPal USD (PYUSD) from self-custody wallets, with coverage across more than 180 countries. The integration runs on the Polygon Open Money Stack, an infrastructure layer that links stablecoins to traditional banking, meaning users can deposit supported stablecoins directly into their own bank accounts.

Polygon announced the partnership through its official X account on September 17, 2026:

Under the new setup, users keep control of their stablecoins until a transaction reaches its required stage, so assets do not need to be deposited into a custodial Stable.com account first. The service is available for USDT and PayPal USD (PYUSD) on Polygon, and both assets can be used to initiate bank transfers directly from self-custody wallets.

A Different Model From Custodial Transfer Services

Many traditional stablecoin-to-bank services require users to deposit tokens with a platform, which then validates the payment and moves the money to a bank account. That custodial step places an intermediary between users and their funds before the money reaches the bank.

Supported Polygon transactions work differently under Stable.com's new setup: users can start the transfer without losing control of their stablecoins at any point in the process.

Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, said users should not have to surrender control of their assets to access bank accounts. He further noted that Stable.com provides a bridge between Polygon wallets and existing payment systems.

Unlimit supplies the payment network that powers the bank transfer leg of the process. The network spans more than 180 countries and offers payouts in over 150 currencies.

Stable.com itself provides global accounts, local payment details, multi-currency balances, cards, and treasury tools. The platform also integrates payment services, tokenized assets, and non-custodial DeFi access, bringing stablecoin payments and traditional financial services together in one place.

Open Money Stack as a Single Infrastructure Layer

The Polygon Open Money Stack handles several aspects of this process through one infrastructure layer, including blockchain settlement, wallets, fiat ramps, and cross-chain orchestration. Financial platforms can therefore integrate blockchain payments with traditional financial systems without developing each component individually. For companies, the promise is stablecoin functionality without the engineering overhead of building settlement, wallet, and fiat-rail components from scratch, which may make stablecoin payments easier to adopt for businesses and fintech firms.

Polygon has been increasingly building out its infrastructure around stablecoin payments and financial applications, with the Open Money Stack bringing together a range of services for connecting onchain assets with traditional money movement. According to Polygon's current Open Money Stack statistics, the network claims more than 8 billion cumulative transactions processed and over $2.7 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume. Average transaction fees are around $0.002, and capacity exceeds 5,000 transactions per second — figures that reflect the infrastructure's emphasis on high-volume payment activity.

Polygon also added support for native PYUSD tokens to its network in July 2026, launching PayPal USD via the Open Money Stack for businesses leveraging Polygon's payment infrastructure. That earlier step put PYUSD directly on the network — the same asset that can now be moved from a self-custody wallet into a bank account under the new partnership.

Kirill Eves, founder and CEO of Unlimit, stated that financial systems will become increasingly linked between conventional and digital currencies. He described the integration as part of Stable.com's financial vision.

For users, the most significant difference is that stablecoin wallets are now directly connected to bank transactions, though availability and transfer conditions can still depend on local payment rules — meaning how widely the service functions in practice will be determined market by market as these rules apply across the 180-plus countries in scope.

Overall, the Stable.com–Polygon integration represents another avenue for moving stablecoins into traditional financial accounts and illustrates the growing integration of blockchain infrastructure into everyday banking services.
