SPML Infra has successfully secured important international safety certifications for its proprietary 104.4 kWh battery pack, marking a pivotal step toward the commercial rollout of the company's battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The company is establishing manufacturing and integration operations in Pune, Maharashtra, with the ambition of building a comprehensive energy storage platform in India. The initiative is aimed at serving the country's growing demand for renewable energy while enhancing grid reliability.

The certification milestone comes as India pushes to expand battery storage capacity to support its renewable energy targets, with grid-scale storage viewed by policymakers as essential for balancing intermittent solar and wind generation. International safety certifications for battery packs are typically a prerequisite for utility-scale deployment, as they validate thermal, electrical, and mechanical safety under recognized global test protocols. For SPML Infra, an infrastructure company headquartered in Noida with operations across water and power projects, clearing these tests positions its BESS offering to compete in a market where state utilities and industrial customers are increasingly procuring storage capacity through tenders.
