India's primary market has produced a string of strong performers among smaller public issues in 2026. Among initial public offerings with an issue size of less than ₹1,000 crore, five stocks have recorded returns of more than 50% as of August 18, according to data from Prime Database, one of India's most widely cited trackers of primary-market issuance. India has also ranked among the world's busiest markets by number of new listings in recent years, and this sub-₹1,000 crore cohort offers a view of the primary market beyond the large, headline-grabbing issues. The five names span five different sectors — precision engineering, crop protection, digital lending, fertility healthcare and power transmission equipment — so the gains are spread across themes rather than concentrated in one. The returns are measured from the issue price, which means they capture both the listing-day move and the stock's subsequent performance.
1. Omnitech Engineering — 149% return
Rajkot-based Omnitech Engineering manufactures high-precision engineered components and assemblies for industries including energy, industrial equipment and automation. The company raised ₹583 crore through its IPO, which opened in February 2026 and was listed on the BSE and the NSE on March 5. Its shares have delivered a 149% return, the highest among the sub-₹1,000 crore issues.
2. GSP Crop Science — 85% return
Ahmedabad-based GSP Crop Science manufactures crop protection products such as insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and biopesticides. India is among the world's largest producers of agrochemicals, the segment in which the company operates. The company raised ₹400 crore through its public issue and has delivered an 85% return, making it the second-best performer on the list.
3. OnEMI Technology — 78% return
Mumbai-based OnEMI Technology Solutions provides digital lending and financing solutions through its technology platforms, a space that operates under the Reserve Bank of India's digital lending framework introduced in 2022. The company's IPO had an issue size of ₹926 crore, and its shares have gained 78% from the IPO level.
4. Gaudium IVF — 53% return
New Delhi-based Gaudium IVF and Women Health raised ₹165 crore through its IPO. The stock has delivered a 53% return, placing it fourth among the sub-₹1,000 crore IPOs. The company provides fertility and reproductive healthcare services, including IVF, ICSI and IUI treatments, part of a private fertility-services segment that has expanded across Indian cities in recent years.
5. Laser Power & Infra — 52% return
Kolkata-based Laser Power & Infra raised ₹742 crore through its issue. The company manufactures power cables, conductors and other products used in power transmission and distribution, and also undertakes power infrastructure projects. India's power transmission and distribution network has been a sustained area of infrastructure investment in recent years, which forms the market this company supplies. Its stock has delivered a 52% return.
For newly listed companies like these, the standard post-listing markers still lie ahead: quarterly results reported as public entities, the expiry of lock-in periods on pre-IPO shareholdings, and the shape of the remaining 2026 IPO pipeline, which Prime Database and the exchanges track. The August 18 snapshot marks where these five stand so far rather than where they finish the year.
