She Code Africa, a Pan-African nonprofit organisation, will mark ten years of expanding access to technology opportunities for African women with the She Code Africa Summit 2026, a gathering set to convene more than 500 women in technology, founders, investors, industry leaders and ecosystem stakeholders in Lagos on September 19, 2026.

Held under the theme “A Decade of Impact: African Women Architecting the Digital Future,” the summit will examine the progress made over the past ten years, as well as the opportunities, challenges and partnerships needed to build a more inclusive digital economy across Africa.

The event comes ten years after She Code Africa began its work to equip African girls and women with digital skills while creating pathways to mentorship, career opportunities, entrepreneurship and economic independence.

Since its founding in 2016, the nonprofit says it has reached more than 65,000 women through its programmes and scholarships, while its community has grown to over 50,000 members across more than 20 African countries. What began as a movement connecting African women interested in technology has since developed into an organisation delivering programmes across technical training, digital literacy, STEM education, scholarships, mentorship and career development. That decade-long build-out provides the backdrop for the anniversary gathering.

The organisation's programmes have focused on the barriers that can limit women's participation in technology, including limited access to digital skills, devices, professional networks, mentorship and economic. Several of those barriers — professional networks and mentorship in particular — are the ones an in-person and virtual convening like this summit is structured to address directly, by placing participants alongside industry leaders, peers and potential collaborators.

Speaking ahead of the summit, Ada Nduka Oyom, Founder and Executive Director of She Code Africa, said the 10-year milestone offers a chance to celebrate the organisation's progress while building new connections that could shape its next chapter.

“Ten years gives us a lot to celebrate, but the work is far from finished. What excites me about this Summit is the opportunity to bring women together again and create the kinds of connections that can change what happens next, whether that's a new career opportunity, a mentorship, a business partnership or simply the confidence to believe that something bigger is possible.”

She Code Africa Looks to Its Next Decade

The summit will feature conversations and learning sessions around technology, careers, entrepreneurship and the wider digital economy, while giving participants the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, peers and potential collaborators.

Marking the anniversary, She Code Africa said the event will also focus on what needs to happen next as African countries expand their digital economies. Attendees will be able to explore career and business opportunities, build professional relationships, learn from technology practitioners and take part in discussions about the future of Africa's technology ecosystem. That forward-looking focus sits alongside the celebrations, framing the summit as both a milestone and a starting point for the organisation's second decade.

As it enters its second decade, the organisation plans to continue expanding access to digital skills while creating more pathways for women to enter the technology sector, build careers and take on leadership roles. How those plans take shape — including any programmes, mentorships or partnerships that emerge from the summit's sessions — will offer the clearest indicators of the direction of its next chapter.
