SettleMint has announced the integration of its Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform (DALP) with IBM Digital Asset Haven, a move designed to enable financial institutions, governments and other regulated organizations to manage tokenized assets throughout their lifecycle. Through the integration, organizations can leverage IBM Digital Asset Haven's secure wallet management, transaction orchestration and policy governance capabilities alongside SettleMint's platform.

According to the announcement, the integration brings together digital asset custody, transaction controls and lifecycle management, so that financial institutions and regulated entities can manage tokenized assets in line with their specific regulatory environments and operational needs. Tokenization refers to representing instruments such as securities, deposits or treasuries as digital tokens that can be issued, transferred and managed on a shared ledger.

Together, DALP and IBM Digital Asset Haven are designed to help organizations move rapidly from pilots to full production, with institutional controls at every layer. The platforms support end-to-end issuance and delivery versus payment (DvP) on a permissioned Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) network — a settlement pattern in which asset and payment transfers are linked so neither completes without the other, running on a network where participation is restricted to approved parties. Tokenized assets, including securities, deposits, equities, treasuries and stablecoins, can be issued and managed throughout their lifecycle on the combined platforms, from initial issuance to transaction approval.

Under the integration, IBM Digital Asset Haven supplies the underlying wallet and key management, transaction approvals and governance capabilities, while SettleMint's DALP applies asset-eligibility and transfer rules on top, aligning who sets policy, who approves activity and who resolves exceptions. That split follows a segregation-of-duties approach long used in regulated finance, where policy-setting, transaction approval and exception handling are kept as separate controls.

"Financial institutions are now looking at digital assets in the context of the systems, controls and governance frameworks they already use," said Adam Popat, CEO of SettleMint. "Our work with IBM is focused on making that integration practical, so digital assets can operate within the same enterprise environment rather than requiring a separate technology stack."

"As financial institutions move from exploring tokenization to putting it into practice, trust, security and control become increasingly important," said Kelly Pushong, Director of Product Management, IBM Z and LinuxONE Software. "IBM Digital Asset Haven provides a scalable foundation with security and governance capabilities to help institutions manage digital asset transactions while maintaining control over their operations. Our work with SettleMint is an example of how we are bridging emerging digital asset opportunities with the needs of established financial systems."

The reference to IBM Z and LinuxONE places Digital Asset Haven alongside IBM's mainframe and Linux-based enterprise platforms, which banks have long relied on to run core, high-volume workloads — the environment the executives describe as the intended home for digital asset operations.
