SEG Solar has inaugurated its second U.S. solar panel assembly facility, a 4-GW annual capacity plant located in Tomball, Texas, just outside Houston. The company already operates a 2-GW panel manufacturing facility nearby in Houston and is currently constructing a third factory in the same region.

The Tomball facility, representing a $200 million investment, spans more than 500,000 square feet and ranks among the largest heterojunction (HJT) module manufacturing sites in the United States. HJT technology, which combines crystalline silicon with thin-film layers, has gained traction among manufacturers pursuing higher efficiency and lower temperature coefficients compared to conventional PERC designs. The plant is equipped with four advanced production lines dedicated to SEG's latest-generation high-efficiency SIERRA N series HJT modules, supporting both 210-mm and 210R wafer formats. It incorporates specialized HJT manufacturing processes, including low-temperature soldering and precision butyl sealant application.

The opening adds to a wave of U.S. solar manufacturing expansions following federal incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act, which revived domestic production tax credits for solar components. Texas, already the leading state for installed solar capacity, has attracted a growing cluster of module assembly plants leveraging its logistics infrastructure and proximity to large renewable energy markets.
