Schroders Launches First Solana Fund With Tokenized Emerging Markets Bond Strategy
Key Takeaways
- •Centrifuge will issue and administer tokenized shares in the Schroders International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bonds feeder fund.
- •The strategy invests in government and corporate debt from emerging markets, with performance affected by interest rates, borrower finances, credit conditions, and currency movements.
- •Schroders previously received Irish approval for a tokenized share class of its U.S. dollar money market fund, making the Solana launch a test of tokenization for a different asset class.
- •Schroders has managed emerging markets debt for more than 50 years, supported by more than 40 investment professionals.
- •Other institutions are expanding blockchain activity, including Securitize’s tokenized stock additions, New York Life Investment Management’s Solana bond strategy, and planned initiatives from Federated Hermes and DTCC.

Schroders is bringing its emerging markets bond strategy to the Solana blockchain through a partnership with tokenization platform Centrifuge, marking the London-based asset manager's first investment fund on the network. The firm, founded more than 200 years ago, oversaw approximately $1.1 trillion in assets as of June 2026.
Announced on November 4, the offering allows investors to hold blockchain-based shares linked to government and corporate bonds issued across developing economies. Rather than owning the underlying bond portfolio outright, investors will hold tokenized shares in a feeder fund structure designed to keep the underlying portfolio separate from the tokenized shares.
The move extends Schroders' tokenization push beyond money market products, where its earlier digital fund work was concentrated, and adds to a growing set of tokenized offerings on Solana, where tokenized real-world assets reached $5.12 billion in November, according to RWA.xyz data. The launch also fits into a broader pattern of established financial institutions bringing fund products and market infrastructure onto public blockchains.
Centrifuge to Issue and Manage Tokenized Shares
Under the arrangement, Centrifuge will issue and manage the tokenized shares. Investors will hold shares in the Schroders International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bonds feeder fund, which in turn invests in Schroders' Emerging Market Bond Fund, rather than direct positions in the underlying bond portfolio.
Centrifuge's platform lists the product with a minimum investment of $100,000 and identifies the offering as an emerging markets bond fund.
In a separate development, tokenization firm Securitize added 13 tokenized stocks on Solana on November 2. Its lineup now includes 25 U.S. stocks, each backed by a share held in custody.
Five Decades of Emerging Markets Debt Experience
The strategy buys bonds issued by companies and governments across emerging markets, with returns depending on interest rates, the finances of borrowers, and movements in local currencies.
Schroders has managed emerging markets debt for more than five decades, and more than 40 investment professionals work on the asset class at the firm.
Building on an Earlier Tokenized Fund Approval
The Solana project follows Schroders' earlier work with digital funds. In August, the company secured approval in Ireland for a tokenized share class of its U.S. dollar money market fund, called Schroders Onchain Active Returns.
Unlike money market funds, emerging markets bond funds carry exposure to corporate and sovereign borrowers across different countries, and their values can change with credit conditions and exchange rates. That distinction makes the new offering a materially different test of tokenized fund structures than the firm's prior approval.
Other Institutions Expand Blockchain Services
Centrifuge also works with New York Life Investment Management, which has brought a high-yield corporate bond strategy onto Solana. That offering accepts USDC subscriptions from eligible investors.
Federated Hermes announced plans in October to issue its first tokenized fund shares in early 2027. The firm manages about $911 billion in assets. Meanwhile, DTCC launched a tokenization service for securities in October, with JPMorgan, Citi, and Fidelity among the firms that signed agreements to use it.
With Federated Hermes' issuance planned for early 2027 and DTCC's service now under signed agreements, the institutional tokenization pipeline described across these initiatives extends into next year.
