ROBINSONS LAND CORP. (RLC), the property arm of the Gokongwei-led JG Summit Holdings, Inc., said it continues to incorporate accessibility measures across its Robinsons Malls portfolio as part of efforts to make its developments more responsive to persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The company said its approach covers mall design and operations, as well as partnerships with government agencies, advocacy groups, and local communities to promote accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity.
Accessibility in Philippine establishments is also governed by regulation. Batasang Pambansa Blg. 344, the Accessibility Law of 1983, requires buildings and related structures for public use to incorporate barrier-free design features for PWDs, while Republic Act No. 7277, the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities, provides for the rehabilitation, self-development, and integration of PWDs into mainstream society.
"We are honored to receive this recognition, which affirms our commitment to creating spaces that are accessible and inclusive for everyone," Maria Kristina Real-Lim, deputy business unit general manager of Robinsons Malls, said in a statement on Monday.

Robinsons Land said its Robinsons Las Piñas mall received the Bronze Award in the Disability-Friendly Establishment category at the 31st Apolinario Mabini Awards.
The awards are presented by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PFRD) and recognize organizations that promote the rights, welfare, and inclusion of PWDs. The award is named after Apolinario Mabini, the first Prime Minister of the Philippine revolutionary government, who served despite paralysis and is historically known as the "Sublime Paralytic."
Robinsons Malls said it also works with government agencies, advocacy groups, and local communities on programs related to accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity.
The recognition follows previous Apolinario Mabini Awards received by Robinsons Magnolia and Robinsons Galleria South. — ALB
