Robinhood Posts Record $1.31 Billion Q2 Revenue Despite Crypto Trading Decline

Robinhood Markets reported record revenue for the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong performance in equities, options, and prediction markets, alongside continued expansion into blockchain-based products. The results underscore a multi-year strategy to diversify beyond the commission-free stock trading that built the company's brand into a broader financial services platform.

Q2 revenue reached $1.31 billion, up 32% year over year and surpassing analyst expectations of $1.26 billion. The company posted net income of $573 million, or $0.62 per share, compared with $386 million, or $0.42 per share, in the same period a year earlier.

Assets under custody climbed to $369 billion from $307 billion a year prior. Quarterly net deposits hit an all-time high of $21.7 billion, while Robinhood Gold subscribers grew to 4.8 million from 4.3 million.

CEO Vlad Tenev shared the results in a post on X:

"We hit all-time highs in trading volumes across equities, options, and prediction markets," Tenev said.

Transaction Revenue Boosted by Prediction Markets and Equities

Transaction-based revenue rose 44% year over year to $776 million, with prediction markets emerging as one of Robinhood's fastest-growing business lines. The category has expanded rapidly across the industry, with platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi also drawing significant user interest in event-based contracts.

Event contracts—allowing customers to wager on outcomes of real-world events such as Federal Reserve announcements and sporting events—generated $156 million in revenue, more than ten times the figure from a year ago.

Options revenue reached $342 million, up 29%, while equities revenue came in at $129 million, a 95% increase.

Crypto Revenue and Trading Volume Decline

Cryptocurrency revenue fell to $100 million, down 38% from $160 million in Q2 2025. Total crypto trading volume dropped to $40 billion from $66 billion in the prior-year period. Robinhood's own platform accounted for $18 billion in crypto volume, while Bitstamp contributed $22 billion. The inclusion of Bitstamp, acquired by Robinhood to strengthen its institutional and international crypto capabilities, provided more than half of total crypto volume for the quarter.

Despite the downturn in crypto trading, the company continued advancing its blockchain initiatives. Robinhood Chain—a Layer-2 Ethereum protocol designed for tokenized real-world assets—launched its public mainnet on July 1. The network supports tokenized stocks, ETFs, decentralized finance applications, and broader Ethereum ecosystem integration through Robinhood Wallet. Tokenization of real-world assets has drawn growing interest from traditional financial institutions, with firms including BlackRock and Franklin Templeton launching their own tokenized fund products.

Tenev highlighted the network's early momentum:

"Robinhood Chain, which was launched just a few weeks ago and is the world's first chain designed for real-world assets, is already sitting on top of $12B in index volume. The fast growth and developer activity have been quite notable, and there is much more to come."

Robinhood had previously announced a public testnet earlier this year before deploying the mainnet.

New Products Announced During Earnings Call

Robinhood introduced two additional products during its earnings call. The first, Rothera, is a CFTC-licensed prediction market exchange developed in partnership with Susquehanna International Group. Since launching at the end of May, the platform has processed more than 3.5 billion transactions. The CFTC licensing places Rothera within a regulated framework at a time when prediction markets have attracted growing regulatory and legislative attention.

The second is agentic trading, an AI-powered feature enabling automated trade execution by software agents across equities, options, and cryptocurrencies. Approximately 100,000 accounts have adopted the technology since its May launch.

Additionally, the Gold Card surpassed 1 million members, generating over $17 billion in annual purchase volume. Thirteen business segments now each produce more than $100 million in annual revenue.
