Ripple’s RLUSD Surpasses $2.5B as Cross River Adds XRPL Settlement to Banking Platform

Ripple is integrating its dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin and the XRP Ledger (XRPL) into Cross River Bank's core banking infrastructure, giving fintech companies a single connection for blockchain-based and traditional payment services.

The integration will allow fintechs to access RLUSD, automated clearing house (ACH) transfers, wire transfers and real-time payments through one API. Cross River said the arrangement is designed to let businesses use blockchain settlement without building and maintaining their own blockchain infrastructure. For fintechs, the practical effect is that adopting blockchain settlement becomes an extension of an existing banking relationship rather than a standalone infrastructure project.

RLUSD payments are becoming part of the banking infrastructure fintechs already use. We're partnering with @CrossRiverBank to integrate RLUSD on the XRP Ledger into its core banking platform, providing 24/7 settlement within payment networks and greater flexibility to settle intraday. Cross River Adds RLUSD to Its Core Banking Infrastructure

Cross River will embed RLUSD as an additional payment channel within its banking platform, with transactions settled on the XRP Ledger. Through a single API connection, fintech companies will be able to move between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, support cross-border transfers and treasury payments, and continue using established payment rails such as ACH, wire transfers and real-time payment services.

Cross River said the integration could reduce the need for businesses to rely on separate providers when transferring funds across borders. The bank's announcement is available through its official newsroom.

XRPL Settlement Takes 3–5 Seconds

The XRP Ledger will serve as the settlement layer for the integration. Cross River said transactions can settle in approximately three to five seconds, cost only a few cents and operate around the clock. The network has processed more than $1.3 trillion in settlement value to date, according to the report.

The arrangement is intended to give issuers and acquirers more flexibility to complete payments throughout the day rather than wait for standard banking cut-off times. It could also allow funds to move outside normal business hours for treasury teams without interrupting bank payment services.

RLUSD Market Capitalization Exceeds $2.5 Billion

The partnership comes as Ripple's stablecoin expands. RLUSD's market capitalization has surpassed $2.5 billion, while more than $1 billion in RLUSD has been issued on the XRP Ledger, Cross River said. Market capitalization, which reflects the total value of a stablecoin in circulation, is the standard gauge for comparing stablecoins' scale in the payments market.

Rather than creating a separate ecosystem, Ripple is integrating RLUSD with infrastructure used by banks and fintech companies. Under the Cross River arrangement, RLUSD operates alongside conventional dollar payment rails rather than replacing them entirely.

Ripple Expands Institutional Stablecoin Access

Ripple has increasingly focused on regulated financial institutions. The company now holds more than 85 licenses worldwide for products and services that include payments, custody, treasury management and other institutional offerings.

The integration creates another regulated distribution channel for RLUSD and gives fintech clients a direct route to XRPL settlement through the banking ecosystem. For stablecoin issuers, distribution through a bank's core platform offers a route to businesses that reach blockchain rails via their banking providers rather than through crypto-native channels. The service is currently available only in certain U.S. states and is expected to expand to additional states as Cross River broadens access — the pace of that state-by-state rollout will shape how many businesses can use the combined rails.
