Ripple is expanding GSmart, its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within Ripple Treasury, to support more corporate treasury functions while keeping financial decisions under human oversight. The update is aimed at finance teams managing both traditional cash and digital assets.
GSmart now includes AI agents for cash forecasting, liquidity planning, risk management, reconciliation and reporting. Ripple said the system is designed to evaluate potential transactions separately from executing them, rather than allowing an AI system to conduct independent financial transactions.
The AI agents can identify patterns, interpret a company’s internal policies and recommend actions. Deterministic engines handle financial calculations. Each agent can flag an issue, suggest a response and identify the policy rule supporting its recommendation. The proposal is then sent to a designated employee for approval before any financial action is taken. This creates a review point between an AI-generated recommendation and a financial action, while keeping the applicable policy visible to the employee responsible for approval.
Ripple described the update in its official announcement.
Governance and Analytics Tools
Ripple also introduced Knowledge Studio, which serves as GSmart’s policy and control layer. Companies can establish internal rules to guide the AI and review potential actions against those rules.
Analytics Studio adds Ask GSmart, a conversational tool that allows users to query treasury data and identify insights without reviewing multiple reports.
Ripple said governance is becoming a growing concern for businesses adopting AI agents. Gartner expects the average Fortune 500 company could have more than 150,000 AI agents in use by 2028, while only 13% of organizations currently believe they have appropriate governance in place.
Existing Enterprise Adoption
The new capabilities build on tools already used by Ripple Treasury customers. Ripple said 60% of its eligible customers have activated Risk Insights, which monitors treasury exposure for anomalies and policy violations. Another 44% of eligible customers use Forecast Insights, which compares expected cash flows with actual results to identify potential liquidity gaps.
The company said the figures indicate that GSmart is already being used in enterprise treasury processes rather than remaining solely a product under development.
“The concept behind GSmart was that CFOs want AI that improves efficiency without sacrificing explainability, compliance or control,” said Renaat Ver Eecke, Ripple’s senior vice president of Treasury.
Linking Traditional and Digital Asset Treasury
Ripple Treasury is designed to support traditional financial operations as well as digital assets, giving organizations one environment for monitoring and managing both types of liquidity.
Ripple has been expanding beyond payments infrastructure toward a broader treasury platform as institutional adoption of crypto, stablecoins and tokenized financial assets grows. GSmart adds an intelligence layer to that infrastructure, allowing treasury teams to analyze balances, identify risks and forecast liquidity across interconnected financial operations.
