Revolut Launches EURR Stablecoin on Ethereum and Polygon as Euro Stablecoin Market Expands

Revolut has launched EURR, its euro-denominated stablecoin, on Ethereum and Polygon, with the rollout beginning Aug. 20 for customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal. The token is available through Revolut's app and exchange, and wider access across the European Economic Area (EEA) is planned later this year. Bridge issues the token under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, the bloc's single rulebook for crypto-assets, whose stablecoin rules took effect in June 2024 ahead of the regime's full application at the end of 2024.

Revolut Begins the EURR Rollout

Revolut says EURR maintains a value of €1 and provides an on-chain route between euros and crypto. Bridge Building S.A., the issuer's Luxembourg entity, holds the reserves backing the stablecoin and handles redemptions.

Bridge, which was acquired by Stripe for $1.1 billion in 2025 — Stripe's largest acquisition to date — has received MiCA authorization across all 27 EU member states. The issuer announced an electronic money institution license on July 2. MiCA regulates currency-referenced stablecoins like EURR as 'e-money tokens,' which must be issued by an authorized electronic money or credit institution.

Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd serves as the distributor for the rollout, which covers customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal, while Revolut X provides an additional distribution channel. Revolut's Emil Urmanshin said EURR connects customers to on-chain finance. Product owner Iman Olya said the token removes friction between fiat and crypto.

EURR Set to Add More Blockchains

According to Revolut, EURR launched on Ethereum and Polygon on Aug. 20, and support for Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Injective, TON and Sui remains planned.

EURR does, however, share its ticker with another MiCA-authorized euro stablecoin issued by StablR, and CoinGecko lists both tokens under the EURR symbol.

Revolut also said other currency-denominated stablecoins are in development. Their rollout will follow separate regulatory pathways, and wider EEA access to EURR depends on readiness.

Revolut Enters Europe's Euro Stablecoin Race

Circle's EURC leads the regulated euro stablecoin market by market capitalization. Circle also issues USDC, one of the largest dollar-denominated stablecoins. As of Aug. 24, Circle reported €394.5 million of EURC in circulation.

Data showed MiCA-compliant euro stablecoins growing through June. Eight such stablecoins reached a combined market capitalization of $673.9 million, up 128%. During that period, EURC averaged $430.4 million in market capitalization, Société Générale's EURCV averaged $137.8 million and Banking Circle's EURI averaged $51.1 million. EURC also recorded an average weekly trading volume of about $34 million. Even with that growth, euro-denominated tokens remain a small fraction of the global stablecoin market, which is dominated by dollar tokens such as Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC. The United States also enacted its first federal stablecoin law, the GENIUS Act, in July 2025.

Circle says EURC remains fully backed by euros and redeemable one-to-one.

Ethereum Institutional highlighted Revolut's 80 million customers and Ethereum's role in the launch. Ethlabs also discussed the rollout.
