Purpose Investments Inc. has launched the ETF series of the Purpose Active Equity Fund, an equity fund actively allocated across global markets, on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker PAEF.
PAEF is the fourth fund in the Purpose Active Suite, joining the Purpose Active Conservative Fund (PACF), the Purpose Active Balanced Fund (PABF) and the Purpose Active Growth Fund (PAGF). The addition gives the suite coverage from conservative and balanced allocations through growth and, with PAEF, an equity-focused end of the risk/return spectrum. As at October 23, 2026, the suite had over $714 million in assets under management, a disclosed reference point for tracking how the lineup scales with the new fund in place.
“PAEF is a natural extension of the Purpose Active Suite. It holds mainly equities and sits further out on the risk/return spectrum. This isn’t a beta-chasing strategy: we use portfolio tilts and exposures to be more contrarian or opportunistic, and a sleeve of diversifiers helps control risk,” said Craig Basinger, Chief Market Strategist and Portfolio Manager at Purpose Investments.
“As with all our funds, we combine active and passive strategies, with portfolio tilts based on our outlook and risk assessment of the markets. Plus, lots of content to share our thinking and positioning along the journey,” Basinger added.
The ETF series structure allows an actively managed fund to trade on a stock exchange throughout the trading day, meaning investors can buy or sell units at market prices during the session rather than transacting at the single end-of-day net asset value typically applied to conventional mutual fund units. Series of this kind have become a common route for Canadian managers to bring existing active strategies into an exchange-traded wrapper. PAEF’s on-exchange trading and subsequent asset disclosures will provide the first public gauges of the fourth fund’s uptake within the lineup. The Toronto Stock Exchange is Canada’s principal equity listing venue, operated by TMX Group.
Purpose Investments is a Toronto-based Canadian asset manager. Further details about the firm and its fund lineup are available on the company’s official website.
