Puma Energy, a subsidiary of commodity trading firm Trafigura, said it has begun supplying bunker fuels in Puerto Rico through its local entity, Puerto Rico Energy LLC.

The company said in a LinkedIn post yesterday that it can deliver bunkers across the island by barge, pipeline and truck, giving it coverage across the local supply chain rather than a single delivery route.

“Puerto Rico Energy pairs on-island strength - terminal storage, island-wide delivery, and local commercial support - with international sourcing and a full range of high quality marine fuel grades,” the company added.

“For customers, that means one supplier for every port call in Puerto Rico.”

The move adds another supply point in a market where marine fuel availability and logistics can depend on port access and coordinated delivery. For shipping customers, the practical value is in combining storage, transport and commercial support in one local operation, which can simplify bunkering calls without changing the underlying fuel grades on offer.

Trafigura took control of Puma Energy in 2021.
