Prime Infrastructure Capital, Inc. (Prime Infra), led by Enrique K. Razon, Jr., has appointed SierraCol Energy Ltd. Chairman Tony Hayward to its board as the infrastructure company broadens its presence in international markets.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Prime Infra said Mr. Hayward joined the board effective Aug. 10.

The appointment follows Prime Infra's acquisition of SierraCol in March. SierraCol is Colombia's largest independent oil and gas exploration and production company, and the deal was part of Prime Infra's international expansion strategy.

"His decades of experience across the global energy industry, particularly in upstream and international markets, will bring valuable perspective as we expand our portfolio, integrate new platforms such as SierraCol, and pursue opportunities that can create long-term value for Prime Infra," Prime Infra Chairman Enrique K. Razon, Jr. said.

Mr. Hayward has served as SierraCol's chairman since founding the company in 2020. He previously served as group chief executive of British multinational energy company BP p.l.c. from 2007 to 2010, a tenure that included the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and as chairman of Swiss diversified natural resources company Glencore plc from 2013 to 2021. He currently chairs several private companies.

For Prime Infra, the board addition brings deep international energy expertise to a company whose domestic portfolio has centered on critical infrastructure, including water and renewable energy projects under the Razon group's infrastructure platform. The SierraCol acquisition marked the company's entry into Latin American upstream oil and gas, giving it a producing asset base outside the Philippines for the first time.

"Prime Infra has built a strong track record in developing and operating critical infrastructure, and I look forward to contributing my experience as the company pursues further growth across the energy sector and beyond," Mr. Hayward said.

Mr. Hayward holds a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh and studied geology at Aston University in Birmingham. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and a visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh's School of Geosciences. He has also received honorary doctorates from the University of Edinburgh, Aston University, the University of Birmingham, and Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
