Stockholders of Payments Network of the Philippines, Inc. (PNPI) have elected a 15-member board of directors for the 2026–2027 term, naming BDO Unibank, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Nestor V. Tan as chairman.
During a meeting held last Thursday, Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) President Fabian S. Dee was elected president, and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) representative Reginaldo Anthony B. Cariaso was named treasurer for the upcoming term.
The remaining board members include Philippine National Bank Senior Vice-President Reynaldo C. Burgos; Land Bank of the Philippines Vice-President Grace Ofelia Lovely V. Dayo; Development Bank of the Philippines President and CEO Michael O. De Jesus; Union Bank of the Philippines President and CEO Ana Maria A. Delgado; Security Bank Corp. President and CEO Meng Teck Victor Lee; Bank of the Philippine Islands Chief Technology Officer Alexander G. Seminiano; and China Banking Corp. Senior Vice-President and Head of Retail Banking Innovations Group Manuel C. Tagaza. Mr. Cariaso represents RCBC, Mr. Dee represents Metrobank, and Mr. Tan represents BDO on the board. The board composition reflects the major commercial and state-owned banks that have historically owned and governed the country's payment clearing infrastructure.
Five independent directors were also elected: Benjamin P. Castillo, Pedro M. Florescio III, Criselda B. Santillan, Jose Rene D. Villa-Real, and Aristeo P. Zafra, Jr.
PNPI is the surviving entity from the merger of BancNet, Inc. and Philippine Clearing House Corp. (PCHC), which was completed in June. The consolidation brought the InstaPay and PESONet clearing houses under a single organization, along with the Payment-versus-Payment system and the Philippine Domestic Dollar Transfer System. InstaPay and PESONet are the two retail payment rails central to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' push to expand digital payment adoption across the economy.
Additional electronic payment services — including ATM operations, point-of-sale transactions, check clearing, direct debit, and other electronic payment facilities — have likewise been integrated under the unified payment network.
The BancNet name will serve as the brand for PNPI's automated teller machine network, while PCHC will continue to designate its check clearing operations.
At the same meeting, the following corporate officers were appointed for the 2026–2027 term: Elmarie S. Reyes as CEO; Emmanuel E. Barcena as chief operating officer for PCH Operations; Agnes H. Maranan as corporate secretary; Maricelle P. Austria as head of human resources and administration; Linley V. Julian as head of technology and communications management for PCH Operations; Jennie F. Lansang as chief information officer; Arnel G. Lim as chief audit executive; Myra S. Privado as head of software testing and certification; Mabelyn Tagasa as deputy chief information officer; Roel Dennis S. Tan as chief risk and compliance officer; Roseanne T.
