The Philippines ranked 66th out of 192 economies in the inaugural Rumavi Global Relocation Index 2026, earning an overall score of 63.9 out of 100, BusinessWorld reported.

The index, the first edition of the ranking, was developed by Singapore-based advisory firm Rumavi (rumavi.com). It assesses the relocation appeal of economies using 24 metrics organized into four pillars: financial and tax; livability and health; safety and stability; and settling and opportunity — the practical considerations, from taxation and healthcare access to personal security and integration, that individuals typically weigh when comparing destinations abroad.

In addition to the overall ranking, the index evaluates economies across six persona categories reflecting different types of relocators. The Philippines recorded its strongest performance in the retirees category, where it placed eighth — the country's best showing among the six persona rankings and 58 places above its overall standing. Retiree relocation is a segment in which the country already operates a dedicated framework: the Philippine Retirement Authority administers the Special Resident Retiree's Visa, a long-term stay program for foreign retirees.

The Philippines, a Southeast Asian archipelago of more than 7,000 islands with its capital in Manila, was one of 192 economies covered by the index's inaugural edition. Because the 2026 ranking is the first, the result sets the baseline against which the country's standing in future editions of the index will be measured.
