Orion Adds BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and Vanguard to Tailored Allocation Portfolios

Orion has added BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and Vanguard to its Tailored Allocation Portfolios, an offering that pairs third-party model portfolios with Orion's Custom Indexing technology to deliver tax management and personalized investing at scale. The additions bring three of the largest asset managers in the United States onto the platform, a move that reflects the broader shift in the advisory industry toward model portfolios and direct indexing as vehicles for scalable, tax-aware portfolio construction.

With the new strategists on board, advisors can now access model portfolios from BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and Vanguard, in addition to Brinker-Main Management, First Trust Advisors, Frontier Asset Management, Janus Henderson, and Russell Investments. This expands Orion's Tailored Allocation Portfolios to eight leading strategists since the offering launched in October 2025. For Orion, bringing three of the industry's most widely recognized asset managers onto a single platform lowers the friction for advisory firms that already hold relationships with those managers, while giving smaller firms access to institutional-grade strategies alongside personalization tooling.

Personalization Without the Tradeoff

Advisors have long faced a tradeoff between the efficiency of third-party models and the ability to deliver a customized investment experience aligned with each client's unique goals. Orion's Tailored Allocation Portfolios closes that gap by running each strategist's standard or custom ETF and mutual fund models through Orion's Custom Indexing technology.

"Advisors want to build around the client in front of them without giving up the discipline of a professionally managed model," said Ron Pruitt, President of Orion Wealth Management. "With Tailored Allocation Portfolios, advisors can start from an investment philosophy they already trust while adapting portfolios to each client's unique goals, preferences, and circumstances. That flexibility, combined with the ability to scale, is driving strong demand across the firms we serve."

How It Works

Tailored Allocation Portfolios allows advisors to select asset managers whose investment philosophy aligns with their own, along with the opportunity to build custom models reflecting their own investment views. Combined with Orion's Custom Indexing technology, the offering enables advisors to gradually migrate assets for clients with concentrated positions, legacy holdings, or unique tax sensitivities into model portfolios — helping manage capital gains and seeking to improve after-tax outcomes over time. That tax-management dimension is a key differentiator as advisors increasingly compete on after-tax results rather than portfolio construction alone.

"The growth we have seen since launch reflects a shift in what advisors expect from portfolio management technology," said Yi-Ching Wu, Executive Vice President of Wealth Management Product and Platform at Orion. "Advisors no longer want to choose between model portfolios and personalization. By bringing more institutional-grade strategies into Tailored Allocation Portfolios, Orion is expanding the range of solutions advisors can implement while maintaining the efficiency and scalability their businesses require."

Tailored Allocation Portfolios are available across Orion's advisor platforms and services, including Orion Wealth Management, Orion Investment Portal, Wealth Advisory, and Orion OCIO. They are fully integrated with Orion Custom Indexing, which surpassed $17.1 billion in assets under management as of July 31, 2026. Further additions of strategists or expansion of the underlying platform capabilities are the natural next signals to watch as competition among model-portfolio and direct-indexing providers continues to intensify.
