Gateway Group, through its dealership arm MG Gateway South Corp., has brought two automotive brands closer to Filipino motorists with the opening of new Omoda & Jaecoo dealerships in Davao City and Cebu City. In partnership with Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines, the new facilities further expand the brand's presence in the Visayas and Mindanao while making hybrid and electric vehicles more accessible across the country.

Omoda and Jaecoo are brands under Chinese automaker Chery Automobile, and their Philippine distributor has been building out a nationwide retail network since the brands were introduced to the local market. The openings in Cebu and Davao extend that network beyond Metro Manila, where much of the country's vehicle retail activity is concentrated.

The Omoda & Jaecoo Matina dealership officially opened on Aug. 5, followed by the inauguration of the Omoda & Jaecoo Cebu V. Rama dealership on Aug. 7. The expansion comes as electrified vehicles gradually gain ground in the Philippines, aided by government measures such as reduced tariffs on electric vehicles and a growing number of charging points in urban centers. Wider provincial dealer coverage is widely viewed as a prerequisite for broader EV adoption, since buyers outside the capital often weigh service accessibility when considering electrified models.

Both dealerships provide complete sales and after-sales services, including vehicle consultations, test drives, financing assistance, preventive maintenance, and technical support. The facilities are designed to deliver a seamless ownership experience for customers.

The inauguration of the Omoda & Jaecoo Cebu V. Rama dealership was attended by Cebu City Vice-Mayor Tommy Osmeña, together with executives of Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines. Meanwhile, the opening of the Omoda & Jaecoo Matina dealership welcomed representatives from financial institutions, business partners, and Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines, highlighting growing confidence in the brand's expansion in Mindanao.
