Ode with Anthropic, the standalone company founded earlier this year with the aim of accelerating enterprise AI adoption, has made its first significant acquisition as it looks to boost its AI technology implementation capabilities.

The deal brings in Casper Studios, a San Francisco-based AI services firm that helps businesses integrate Anthropic's Claude models into their workflows and systems. Casper's team will join the 100-plus engineers already working at Ode. Financial details of the transaction, which was confirmed on Aug. 20, were not disclosed.

Origins and Backing

The venture was initially revealed in May, when Anthropic said it was teaming with financial services firms Blackstone and Hellman & Friedman to accelerate the rollout of AI to businesses. The standalone company is also backed by investors including Apollo, Sequoia Capital, Leonard Green and Partners, and General Atlantic, and in July it gained a name when Ode with Anthropic was officially introduced.

The premise behind Ode is that Anthropic experts can identify opportunities where AI can benefit businesses, while the financial firms backing the venture can refer companies in their portfolios as potential clients. That structure places Ode within a broader push into enterprise AI services, where consultancies have built sizable generative AI practices and where Anthropic has previously partnered with Accenture, which committed to training tens of thousands of its professionals on Claude.

From Experimentation to Transformation

Ode has made clear that its aim is to help enterprises progress from AI experimentation to full-on, company-wide transformation, and has said it will scale quickly to achieve this — a goal underscored by the move for Casper. The pitch speaks to a widely reported pain point: businesses have broadly experimented with generative AI, but moving pilots into production at scale has proven difficult, fueling demand for implementation specialists.

Under the arrangement, Ode will tackle clients' most complex AI challenges with custom systems, while Casper will focus on developing and evolving Anthropic products to address the thousands of other AI opportunities that typically arise in organizations.

A Blueprint Already Tested

Before the acquisition was finalized, the two companies had already worked together at Chicago-based Sphera, an operational intelligence platform that collates insights into risk, sustainability and safety.

That alliance served as something of a blueprint for future projects, with Ode focused on building a custom internal tool to eliminate key bottlenecks by 70%, while Casper used Claude Code to develop tools that automate processes in customer support, planning and consulting. With deal terms undisclosed, additional client engagements like Sphera's and any further acquisitions as Ode scales beyond its current 100-plus engineers will be the visible markers of the strategy in practice.
