Northern Trust Wealth Management has appointed Candice Nakagawa as Family Office Solutions Managing Director for the West Region. Based in Los Angeles, Nakagawa will help lead the delivery of integrated services for affluent families whose financial lives have reached family office-level complexity.
The appointment comes as the family office sector continues to expand, driven by a multi-decade wave of liquidity events in technology, real estate, and other entrepreneurial sectors that has increased the number of households needing institutional-grade wealth infrastructure. As more families increasingly manage wealth across generations, businesses, and jurisdictions, Northern Trust's Family Office Solutions practice helps coordinate multiple advisors, strengthen governance, and bring together investment, fiduciary, tax, philanthropic, and estate planning strategies. Nakagawa will report to Pam Lucina, Head of Family Office Solutions.
"The West has seen decades of value creation, and many of today's entrepreneurs and multigenerational families are looking for the coordination and institutional resources traditionally associated with a family office," said Jason Tyler, President of Northern Trust Wealth Management. "Candice has spent her career advising sophisticated clients and is exceptionally well positioned to help families navigate that evolution while growing our presence in many of the country's most dynamic wealth markets."
Nakagawa most recently served as Executive Vice President and Western Region President at Wilmington Trust. Prior to that, she was Private Wealth Management Market Leader at U.S. Bank and held multiple leadership roles at MUFG Union Bank. Her career across regional and national wealth platforms places her among a growing cohort of senior private banking professionals moving into dedicated family office roles as large banks deepen their focus on this segment.
Nakagawa holds an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and a BA from the University of California, San Diego. She is also a graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School. Her community involvement includes supporting nonprofit organizations focused on economic education and women's leadership.
