Nine pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) announced Thursday that they will partner with an industry trade group to enhance prescription drug price transparency through the TrumpRx platform.

FOX Business exclusively reported that the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) and the nine PBMs have reached an agreement to display TrumpRx prescription cash prices within their benefit tools. The initiative is designed to give patients clearer visibility into medication costs and potential savings.

PBMs serve as intermediaries between health insurers, pharmacies, and drug manufacturers, negotiating drug prices and managing pharmacy benefits for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans. The nine participating companies — CarelonRx, CVS Health, Express Scripts, Humana, MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Navitus Health Solutions, OptumRx, Prime Therapeutics, and WellDyne — collectively administer benefits for tens of millions of Americans, meaning the change could reach a substantial share of the insured population.

"President Trump has made lowering prescription drug costs for Americans a priority, and this commitment is a step in the right direction," CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz told FOX Business.

"By making negotiated drug prices available alongside cash prices on TrumpRx, this agreement will give patients greater visibility into how much they're paying and help them find the best possible deal," Oz explained. "That's the kind of transparency we need to boost competition, drive down costs, and deliver better value for American patients."

Patients enrolled in plans administered by these PBMs — including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans — will be able to view TrumpRx prices. The arrangement will apply to all drugs that carry a price on TrumpRx, whether set through a presidential deal or as a standard price.

"Consumers and patients are better off when they have more options and a clear view of their costs," said PCMA CEO David Marin. "If there are times when a product is cheapest on TrumpRx, patients should know that. This administration has embraced the use of real-time benefit tools to give patients more information, and we strongly embrace this technology."

"This commitment will allow consumers to compare options and make better informed choices about costs and where they access prescription drugs. It's a no-brainer for our industry and for American families," Marin added.

The agreement comes amid sustained scrutiny of PBM business practices. The Federal Trade Commission has been investigating the PBM industry, and bipartisan lawmakers in Congress have pressed for greater transparency into how these companies influence drug pricing and pharmacy reimbursement. Against that backdrop, the PCMA-led commitment represents a voluntary industry step toward the kind of cost visibility that lawmakers and regulators have been seeking.

PCMA noted that the nine PBMs are expected to begin providing price transparency on their benefit platforms starting January 1, 2027, though implementation methods may vary by company.

Some PBMs will use Real Time Benefit Tools to display the TrumpRx cash price alongside the cost of a prescription through their plan's coverage benefit at a network pharmacy. Others may integrate TrumpRx pricing through alternative methods.
