NEAR Slips Below $5 as $5.42 Million ETF Inflow Fails to Stem Decline

NEAR Protocol's native token fell more than 7% on Tuesday, extending a similar loss from the previous day, as fading short-term momentum outweighed continued buying through its exchange-traded fund. The token changed hands near $4.70 at the time of writing, sitting below a tightly grouped resistance zone around $5.02.

ETF Demand Persists Through the Pullback

Bitwise's NEAR-focused ETF, trading under the ticker NRR, recorded $5.42 million in net inflows on Monday, according to SoSoValue data. The purchase extended a longer trend of demand, following three consecutive weeks of inflows totaling more than $80 million.

Spot crypto ETFs give traditional brokerage investors a way to hold exposure to a token without directly managing wallets or on-chain transactions, and their daily flow figures are widely tracked as a gauge of demand through regulated vehicles. The sustained flows point to steady buying through the fund, but they have not prevented the latest price correction. ETF activity represents one investment channel among many and does not, on its own, determine the direction of the broader market.

Network Metrics Show Infrastructure Growth

NEAR's Q3 2026 report, released on Monday, highlighted expansion in the protocol's multichain transaction infrastructure. Cumulative volume processed through NEAR Intents surpassed $32 billion, roughly 45% above the cumulative figure reported for the previous quarter. Intents-based designs let users state a desired outcome, such as a cross-chain swap, while the underlying network handles routing and execution, an approach aimed at simplifying the movement of funds between blockchains.

The protocol also disclosed that more than $8 million in fees had been directed toward token buybacks, a mechanism that channels protocol revenue into purchases of the token. Separately, total value locked in its privacy-focused Confidential Intents reached approximately $160 million, an increase of about 463%.

The figures point to expanding use of NEAR's infrastructure, although network growth and buyback activity do not guarantee an immediate recovery in the token's market price.

Resistance Near $5.02 Caps Rebound Attempts

On the four-hour chart, NEAR remains below its 50-period Exponential Moving Average at $5.0179 and a descending resistance trendline near $5.0261. Together, the two levels form the first significant obstacle for buyers attempting to restore short-term momentum.

A sustained breakout above $5.0261 would strengthen the recovery case and bring the September 28 high at $5.5780 into view, with the round-number level of $6.00 representing the next upside reference. Until that resistance cluster is cleared, rebounds remain vulnerable to renewed selling.

Momentum indicators reinforce the cautious near-term picture. The Relative Strength Index stands near 50 on the daily chart, indicating subdued momentum below its neutral midpoint, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence indicator has crossed marginally beneath its signal line, suggesting upward pressure is fading. These readings do not, however, establish that the broader upward trend has reversed.

Key Support Levels in Focus

NEAR continues to trade above its 200-period Exponential Moving Average near $4.5513, leaving an important technical support level intact. If the correction extends, the 200-period EMA at roughly $4.55 would serve as the first significant support reference.

Below it, horizontal support at $4.4440 marks the zone that limited losses on October 8. Holding this area would support the interpretation of the decline as a correction within the broader uptrend. A sustained break beneath both levels would weaken that and increase the risk of a deeper decline toward $3.9140, the September 19 high.

For now, NEAR's outlook hinges on whether buyers can defend nearby support and regain the resistance cluster around $5.02, even as ETF inflows and network activity remain constructive. Upcoming daily ETF flow reports will show whether the fund's buying streak continues.
