Patimban Global Gateway Terminal (PGT), operated by a consortium that includes Africa Global Logistics (AGL), has received the inaugural call of MSC's first regular weekly container service at Patimban Port. The new scheduled connection represents a significant milestone in the terminal's development and advances efforts to position Patimban as a complementary international gateway to Tanjung Priok, which has long operated near or above its designed capacity.

The maiden call of the MSC Aria III (Voyage 628R) marks Patimban's entry into international scheduled liner shipping and underscores the terminal's growing operational readiness. MSC, the world's largest container shipping line by fleet capacity, operating the service under its Seahorse Service — a weekly route linking Patimban with major Asian hubs including Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Pasir Gudang, and Singapore — lends significant scale to the young terminal's connectivity profile. This connection provides West Java's importers and exporters with enhanced access to regional transshipment centers and global shipping networks.

The Indonesian government has positioned Patimban Port, located in Subang Regency, West Java, as a strategic complement to Tanjung Priok, making it central to national efforts to improve logistics efficiency and support the rapidly expanding industrial estates of West and Central Java. Indonesia's logistics costs have historically remained elevated relative to regional peers, and infrastructure investments like Patimban are part of broader efforts to address that gap. PGT continues to invest in terminal facilities and capabilities to handle increasing trade flows. The commissioning of ship-to-shore gantry cranes and RTGs is expected by December 2026, which will further boost productivity and capacity.
