As AI assistants move from answering questions to initiating actions, payment infrastructure has become a key part of that shift. PayBox is positioned to let users stay inside the chat interface while still requiring explicit authorization controls around money movement and blockchain activity.

Integration With AI Assistants and Financial Services

PayBox functions as a custom plugin within ChatGPT and Claude. After installing the connector, users set up account credentials, configure passkey authentication, and link a preferred wallet or payment card. MoonPay requires identity verification when users deposit funds through connected card accounts.

The platform supports a range of financial activities, including cryptocurrency purchases, digital asset swaps, token transfers, and decentralized finance protocols. Outside of crypto, it also handles travel arrangements, dining reservations, and purchases from integrated e-commerce merchants. Users initiate all actions through natural-language commands in their AI assistant interface.

After receiving instructions, the AI assistant evaluates available options and builds the appropriate payment or blockchain operation. By default, each action must be confirmed with passkey authentication. For added convenience, autonomous operation modes allow transactions within predefined thresholds set by the account owner.

Security and Key Management

PayBox is designed to protect sensitive payment information by preventing AI assistants from accessing full card details or wallet private keys. MoonPay uses multi-party computation and trusted execution environments to distribute wallet key management. Under this model, no single component has enough authority to independently move funds or access wallet credentials.

Card-based transactions use Visa’s agent commerce framework to keep actual card numbers hidden. Each passkey authorization is valid for one designated transaction only and expires immediately after completion. According to the company, Sodot’s infrastructure protects more than $50 billion in assets across over 10 million wallet instances. That foundation now works with MoonPay’s existing infrastructure, which supports more than 1,700 corporate partners across its global payment ecosystem.
