Milo Yiannopoulos, the once-prominent British MAGA figure and provocateur who last year urged the Trump administration to "deport millions and millions of people," was deported to Britain on Friday, The New York Times reported Saturday — a case in which a vocal ally of the administration's immigration crackdown became subject to the same enforcement machinery he championed.

Yiannopoulos was detained earlier this week in Louisiana by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which claimed he had "overstayed" his visa after failing to appear for an immigration hearing. His removal fits within the broader expansion of deportation enforcement under the current administration, which has pursued cases well beyond those with criminal convictions, including people with long-standing U.S. residence and visa overstays.

Once a rising star during President Donald Trump's first presidential campaign, Yiannopoulos saw his political career collapse in 2017 after video surfaced of him defending "perfectly consensual" sexual relationships between adults and minors. The remarks cost him his Breitbart platform, a book deal and a speaking slot at the Conservative Political Action Conference at the height of his prominence.

A former Breitbart editor, Yiannopoulos spent years on the fringes of conservative politics following his 2017 downfall, including a stint as an unpaid intern for former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in 2022 and work on Ye's short-lived 2024 presidential campaign.

Yiannopoulos was also a fierce defender of the Trump administration's mass deportation campaign, having called for "total legal immunity" for ICE agents and for ICE checkpoints to be set up at supermarket entrances, gas stations and strip malls.

"Mr. Yiannopoulos did not respond to messages seeking comment. He had lived in the United States for more than a decade, joining the staff of Breitbart News on a nonimmigrant visa reserved for people with 'extraordinary ability,'" the Times' report reads.

"He has frequently tested the limits of his provocations with incendiary remarks about Islam, feminism and immigrants. Mr. Yiannopoulos has also reveled in Mr. Trump's mass deportation campaign. Last year on social media he called for 'on the spot deportation' for those who couldn't prove they were in the country legally."

Under British law, Yiannopoulos retains citizenship there, making the United Kingdom the destination country for his removal.
