MEXC, a digital asset trading platform known for its zero-fee model, on October 29 published its September trading data for tokenized traditional finance (TradFi) products — the category that lets users trade tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, Stock and Index Futures, and Pre-IPO Futures through a single account. Tokenized U.S. stock spot trading volume rose 81% month over month, while volume in AI-related assets grew 88%. Semiconductor- and memory-related assets made up 77% of trading volume among the top 10 Stock and Index Futures, and Pre-IPO Futures volume climbed 60%.
AI Trading Extends Beyond Chips Into Optical Communications, Power, and Data Centers
In September, trading volume for AI-related assets within MEXC's tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs increased 88% month over month, ahead of the 63% growth recorded by non-AI assets. AI-related assets represented 48% of tokenized U.S. stock and ETF spot trading volume, up from 44% in August.
The trading activity broadened past chips into optical communications, power equipment, and data center infrastructure. Volume in semiconductors and memory rose 100% month over month, followed by optical communications and networking at 99%, power and energy equipment at 96%, and computing infrastructure and data centers at 91% — four sectors each expanding by more than 90%. Taken together, those categories cover the main physical layers of AI data center infrastructure — memory and compute hardware, networking, electricity supply, and the facilities themselves — meaning September's fastest growth sat in infrastructure inputs rather than chip design alone.
AI-related companies occupied six of the top 10 most-traded tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs in September, accounting for 59% of the ranking's combined volume, while crypto-related companies held the remaining four spots with 41%. Assets tied to AI cloud services, chip design, computing infrastructure, and data centers together represented 38% of the top 10's combined trading volume, reflecting how concentrated activity remained in AI infrastructure and crypto-related names.
Memory Stocks Lead Stock and Index Futures Volume
Semiconductor- and memory-related assets took five of the top 10 spots by MEXC Stock and Index Futures trading volume in September, contributing 77% of the ranking's combined volume. Micron (MU), SK hynix, and Sandisk (SNDK) claimed the top three positions, together making up 67% of the top 10's volume. The Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL) and NVIDIA also placed in the top 10, leaving futures activity heavily concentrated in semiconductor and memory names.
Elsewhere, trading volume for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) rose 298% month over month, and Strategy (MSTR), a Bitcoin treasury company, recorded 147% growth. The near-quadrupling of the benchmark S&P 500 ETF's futures volume means broad index exposure grew alongside single AI names during the month. AI hardware stocks also posted notable gains: futures trading volumes for Dell (DELL) and AMD rose 243% and 209%, respectively. AMD's tokenized spot trading volume increased 153%, with both its spot and futures volumes more than doubling.
Pre-IPO Futures Volume Rises 60%, Japanese Stock Futures Grow 47%
MEXC continued to broaden its global stock trading coverage in September. The number of TradFi Futures trading pairs on the platform rose 15% month over month, while Pre-IPO and Japanese Stock Futures volumes climbed 60% and 47%, respectively, making them the month's key growth areas. The exchange also introduced a dedicated section for Taiwanese stocks, extending its coverage of Asian equity markets.
Pre-IPO Futures were the fastest-growing TradFi Futures category of the month. These contracts track private companies ahead of any public listing, giving the category a distinct role from futures on already-listed stocks. Trading volume in Kimi (Moonshot AI) rose 115% month over month, followed by Enflame at 99% and OpenAI at 51%. September also brought the addition of Pre-IPO Futures for Polymarket, YMTC (Yangtze Memory Technologies), and Oura (Oura Health), stretching coverage across prediction markets, semiconductor memory, and wearable technology. How much of September's breadth carries forward — particularly in the power, networking, and data center sectors and in the new Taiwanese stock section — will become visible in MEXC's next trading-data report.
From private companies to global equity markets, MEXC is consolidating trading opportunities across markets, listing stages, and product formats on a single platform. The exchange currently offers more than 450 Stock and Index Futures trading pairs, over 200 tokenized U.S. stocks, and RealStocks, which provides access to more than 7,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs. Combined with zero-fee trading, the range gives users greater flexibility to access global opportunities without being limited to a single market or trading method.
MEXC CEO Vugar Usi said, "September's data shows that demand for AI-related trading is expanding beyond chips into the broader value chain. For trading platforms, the challenge is not simply to expand asset coverage, but to adapt to users' evolving trading needs. MEXC will remain focused on our users, continuously improving our products and trading experience to reflect emerging market trends, and make new opportunities more accessible."
